Do they still use a wound string for low G?

I don’t think this set has a wound G. I prefer sound G and C and buy sets that include them, or individual strings. The E and A are very good. https://www.amazon.com/Aquila-86U-Ukulele-Concert-Tuning/dp/B00GIPNSBO/ref=sr_1_4?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1544540535&sr=1-4&keywords=Concert+ukulele+strings++wound+low+g. I’ve used this set, and https://www.amazon.com/Aquila-9U-Ukulele-CONCERT-Tuning/dp/B005WFTZWW/ref=sr_1_3?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1544540535&sr=1-3&keywords=Concert+ukulele+strings++wound+low+g and this individual string.

Does this set of strings include a wound string for low G or is it just thicker?

No it is not wound... at least in the sets I received. It is the Red string that is the regular diameter (in other words not thicker) but made of different material. Very stretchy. Hope that helps.....Mike
