Rebranded Etymotic ER20 Plugs at a Great Price! Highly Recommended
These Hearos "High Fidelity" earplugs are really the popular Etymotic Research ER20 plugs rebranded in a different package. In fact, they are also the same as the Mack's brand "Hear Plugs High Fidelity" model (I own them all). For whatever reason, both of the rebranded versions cost less than the "Etymotic" branded ones despite being exactly the same, but I'm not complaining! Over the past year, I have tried more than a dozen different models of ear plugs claiming to be either "flat attenuation", "natural sounding" or "high fidelity" with some costing upwards of $50 per pair! Needless to say, these Etymotic/Mack's/Hearos plugs are hands-down the best plug for the price if you are looking for a true "high fidelity" ear plug that will reduce the volume of your surroundings an appreciable amount without causing voices and music to become overly softened, muddled or inaudible. In fact, there's nothing at 2x or even 3x the price that exceeds the performance of these plugs and many similar designs, such as the popular "Vader" plugs, simply fall short in real world use. The NRR (noise reduction rating) of these plugs is rated at just 12db, so I DO NOT recommend them for use in shooting sports or high noise work environments. However, for short-term use in moderately loud environments, such as busy restaurants, parties, music concerts and band practices, these are an exceptional choice! In reality, the effective noise reduction of these plugs is closer to 20db at some frequencies, but it's always best to err on the side of caution when it comes to your ears, so get a plug with a higher NRR rating if you are going to be exposed to loud noises for more than a couple hours at a time. My only complaint is that the stem on this design sticks out a bit farther than I would prefer. However, the clear color does help conceal it and this is only an aesthetic preference, not a functional one. In use, the longer stem makes the plugs easier to hold, fit and remove than some other styles, particularly the Planet Waves "Pacato" earplugs and HearDefenders-DF models. The triple-layer, mushroom-shaped baffle system is a classic design, but continues to offer the widest range of fitment and offers a good quality seal in most ears with average size canals. All in all, these are a high quality ear plug that deliver exactly what they say...high fidelity sound with solid protection! Highly recommended. Protect your hearing!!
Protect your hearing! I play guitar in a loud, fast oi punk band that practices for hours in a small space at high volumes. I started using these soon after joining the band, for practice and at our shows and it has made playing and watching other bands so much more enjoyable. Music is still loud, but not painful and we can still talk in between songs. I like them so much I bought them for my band mates. I’ve gone through lots of these, not because they don’t last, but because I lose them and I won’t play without them. I now keep a pair in every guitar case plus a few extras.

I have pretty sensitive ears and mild tinnitus - sometimes loud or sharp noises will cause my hearing to distort and almost "rattle" in a painful way. These work well - I wore them to a rock concert and had no problems hearing the music, it didn't sound muffled like with foam plugs, and the music never hurt my ears or distorted. These didn't leave my ears ringing afterwards like they would had I not worn plugs at all. I have also found them useful for every day activities where loud/sharp noises may hurt my ears - birthday parties, playing ping-pong in an enclosed space, etc. It's nice to reduce the volume of these activities so my ears are comfortable but still be able to hear people and have conversations. They do start to get a little uncomfortable to wear after extended periods of time.

Great value, and work as well as more expensive ones
Second time buying these. Great value. Just attended a Brandon Lake concert last night with these. They work great. The only thing I noticed different than the others I bought, the case to carry them in is not as sturdy than the other one that came with the ones we previously bought. We used the old cases. Otherwise they keep your ears protected.

Fantastic sound pressure reduction.
Fantastic decibel reduction. Still can hear proper frequencies. Comfortable fit.

Great Ear Plugs
These plugs are great. I went to club last night with them and had them on the entire time. They are comfortable enough, in that you notice you have them on, but they don't really bother you. At one point I was directly in front of the 6 foot speaker amps, the floor around me was vibrating with every beat, I was feeling the power throughout my body, but my ears we fine. I don't know how people without plugs could stand that level of noise. The fidelity was almost perfect: the music came in through very clear, and you are able to get all of it (highs and lows) without having your ears blasted out by the volume. Hearing and speaking to people is almost perfect, although sometimes you might need to have them get closer (it might also be that I'm not used to talking with people over incredibly loud club music). The day after, I am incredibly glad I had these ear plugs. It's not worth stunting my hearing and having other side effects just to have a night out at a club. The rubber and plastic construction seems like it would be no problem to clean them and use them whenever needed. The carrying case is almost useless, since it is really hard to close correctly. If you are able to make the case work (you have to bend up the plastic flap on the bottom part of the case before closing, and then bend it back to normal to "lock" the case) then it's nice to keep in your pocket. Otherwise I would just get a small plastic bag or some other container that shuts securely. Do not hang the case from your key chain, since it will most likely pop open and you will lose your ear plugs, or the little plastic loop might break and you will lose the case entirely.

Inadequate Volume Reduction
These plugs fit well and were comfortable to wear for a 2 hour concert. As others noted, the clip the high end down without losing too much of the detail in the music. But the 15 decibel sound reduction just isn’t enough at a loud concert. I got home and my ears were ringing. I gave them rheee stars as they are affordable and provide some protection, but do yourself a favor and stick to plugs that provide a reduction of at least 25 decibels or more.

This is better than expected. It actually levels external noise so it doesnt hurt your ears. Taken it to bar gigs and loud concerts

Disappointing level of noise reduction, sounds are still too loud wearing these. Also unreliable in creating a seal, which is difficult, and the plugs don't function properly without

I use them when I go to spin class. I find the music is always too loud. Still able to hear the instructor without any of the high frequencies. It makes the classes way more enjoyable. I also use them at outdoor music festivals. They really cut out the damaging high frequencies. Thanks
