Do they tear easily? I would like to use them as slip covers for dog beds temporarily because one of dogs is having potty issues.

Yes they tear easily, I was placing some legos in one, not even that many maybe a few pounds, and apparently the corners were sharp enough to slice through. I used a large ziplock bag instead without issue.

Is 40 inches the circumference of the opening?
