I bought the Laser Measure 50M/165ft RockSeed Digital Laser Distance Meter from Amazon and have been very impressed with its performance. It’s compact, feels well-made and has quickly become my go-to tool for measuring around the house and for DIY projects.The 50 m (165 ft) range is more than enough for most indoor and outdoor tasks, and the measurements are consistently accurate. I love the two bubble levels — they make it super easy to ensure the device is perfectly level before measuring, which gives extra confidence in the results.The backlit LCD is clear and easy to read even in dim light, and switching between m/in/ft units is simple. It handles single distance readings and more advanced calculations like area, volume and Pythagorean measurements, which has been really handy for planning furniture layouts and checking room dimensions.It’s lightweight and portable, fits comfortably in a tool bag, and the battery life has been good so far.Overall, this feels like a reliable and versatile laser measure at a great price — excellent for home users and pros alike.

Whether measuring rooms for carpets or furniture, or reconfiguring garage / worksop space, this little meagre makes the job so easy. No more drooping tape or needing help to take measurements, this is a very simple, one-handed solution. Place the measure against the opposite wall, press a button to see a laser sighting spot, then press again to take the measurement. The distance is calculated from the back of the measure, so you don't need to adjust for the length of the device. There's a memory feature for storing you readings.The display is large, bight and very easy to read. I've used mine quite a few times over the last 6 months and the battery indicator still shows a full battery - it's nit like you're firing a laser constantly, just a couple of seconds.The measure comes in a little bag, which sips neatly into your pocket.

Attractive unit, good display and backlight, easy to use and comprehensive functionality, large objective lens, however has a few important issues:1) No way to calibrate, unlike many other units.2) No case included (really important).3) Unit has hard plastic outer not rubber.These units are light weight with a laser and large lens in the end which needs to be kept clean and protected. A case, at least an end cap, is an essential component to protect against damage. Other comparable products come with a case, rubber outer and for less money too. Will last several minutes in my tool bag without these basics for protection. Knocked 1 star for that reason.Testing has revealed that the devicesI tried are (understandably) sensitive to the surface being aimed at. I found wood and anything glossy gave up to +/-5mm errors and also inconsistent readings when repeating the exact same measurement. Matt painted surfaces worked best and gave completely consistent and completely accurate readings, frankly, better and much easier to take than using any human operated tape measure. To achieve accuracy and consistency I am now placing a piece of white copier paper and blutack if measuring against anything wood or shiny. This also helps with aim over longer distances. Used this way I found it mm accurate to the measuring (1 mm) resolution of the machine.Furthermore if seeking to determine accuracy of these devices they must be compared against at least a calibrated tape used at the calibrated temperature. Your £5 tape from Wilco outside on a cold day against a brick wall won't do. I have one calibrated 3m tape and 5 general use tapes. They measure up to 2mm different from my calibrated tape. In short, don't dis the device because it doesn't check against your inexpensive tool box tape. Tolerances add up. Your tape could, be wrong and most importantly your tested surface also needs to be controlled and consistent.Reluctantly returned in favour of an item with a case and ability to calibrate. Highly accurate against a white paper or matt painted surface.

This laser measurer was excellent for our home DIY projects. Although it appears complex, it’s surprisingly easy to use. It has definitely transformed the way my husband and I measure, compared to using tape measures!

Excellent product VFM

This is actually better than expected. As it's a LOT cheaper than the big name brands, I thought it may be a case of "buy cheap, buy twice" but it's turning out to be a really useful tool so far, with great functionality and intuitive operation. My one quibble would be that the spirit levels are tiny and hard to see when measuring, so bear that in mind if that is an important consideration for you.
