Seems to be a very good product that has great strength. The side eyelet mounting is limiting and actually requires extra care when placing on flat surface. Heavy gauge thick steel will pull rapidly and could injure fingers if holding eyelet. Noted strength of magnet is directly related to quality and gauge of metal. Unable to rate if item would stand up to weather/fishing recovery use, did not use. Was not a good fit for my needs and I returned item.

It's doing the job but one thing I didn't like is that the eyelet where the rope attaches screws on and I lost the magnet in the river one cast. Fortunately my partner was with me and he was able to retrieve the magnet. So a suggestion would be to make it so it doesn't come off or use a loctite glue or something to help secure it. The eyelet screw is very very short so doesn't take much before it can detach.

One of the magnets looked good. The other had some cosmetic issues. Magnet arrived in box with gloves on top of clip. The magnet was on top of the gloves. This caused gloves to stick to magnet. Left latex residue on magnet, plus some rust spots on magnet and gloves. In the other box, the magnet was to the side of the gloves not touching. No sticking of latex to magnet occurred. Just thought you would like to know. Pictures included. Thanks.

It already had some corrosion on one side straight out of the package but this wasn’t a concern to me since I plan to use it in salt water. I strongly suggest two adjustments/modifications before you use it. The ring attached to the magnet was only finger tight so I backed it out, discarded the washers, and added a good coating of JB Weld to the threads, held it in a vise, and tightened the ring tightly with a screwdriver. Water will not enter the center cavity and the ring will never come off. Next I cleaned the magnet with lacquer thinner and finally sprayed the entire magnet with paint. I only tested it with steel items around my shop. It seems to have a strong enough attraction but I did not attempt any measurements. I advise that caution be used to avoid a painful pinch should some skin get between the magnet and what is being picked up.

OK first time using put loctite on the threads tighten it up tight but it's set for 24 hours make sure the rope was tide tight went to the lake through it in guess what magnet came back I used common sense did there around tree limbs or rocks just a no brainer it's not the strongest magnet out there but if you want a stronger magnet you pay more which I think I'll have to upgrade but I'll try this for now caught a couple hooks it was fun and relaxing.
