I gave two as gifts Christmas 2015 to people who love the product
First of all, I bought a total of 7 of these stations. I gave two as gifts Christmas 2015 to people who love the product. One of those gifts went to a novice who set the station up and got it online all by himself. Installation is a snap, and so is the software if you are at all technically proficient at installing a simple PC program. One station is on my rooftop, and another was just installed at a bicycle business where weather is always a hot topic. The display is the best part. It is BRIGHT and so easy to read. You can watch the ticker and I guarantee you will get some interesting info from it, such as times of highs and lows, average temps, wind gusts etc. - interesting informative info. Be sure and register your station with Weather Underground and you will be able to access it anywhere, and so can your neighbors. Once you do this, copy the URL and go to [...]and get yourself a simple easy to remember URL. For example, mine is [...] I have owned several Davis stations and have a new Vantage Vue on the rooftop as well. I bought the first Accurite on a whim, thinking I would try it but not expecting much due to the low price. Boy was I surprised! FACT: I like this station better than the $300 Davis I bought and installed at the same time. Seems to be just as accurate, and the display is hands down better! I would recommend you buy a 1" conduit from Lowes or Home Depot and a couple of U clamps to clamp it on to a roof pipe. This will get the station up and give accurate wind indicators. You can also buy inexpensive roof antenna mast mounts from Amazon that you can mount the conduit to if you don't have metal or lead pipes. In a nutshell: This is a great product and you are getting so much for your money, you just can't go wrong. Take your saving and buy a good mount and definitely use Lithium batteries - better in the cold, and they will last so much longer and you won't need to change them very often. Nice job Accurite - home run on this one!

Replaced An Older System That I Couldn't Get Anymore.....
I brought this weather system to replace a old Taylor system that wasn't being made any more. I liked that system, but the outside sensor would go bad and give bad temp readings after a time and have to be replaced. This system seems a bit better to me as you can buy the outdoor sensor and display items "stand alone" so if one goes bad it can be replaced and you don't have to buy the whole system again. I got it in a timely manner and the setup was easy to complete and get up and running. The only real problems I had were with the PC software and the batteries for the outdoor sensor. First on the batteries. I discovered a fact that I should have know, but some how I forgot. Place ALL NEW batteries in a system when you replace batteries! The outdoor unit requires four (4) AA batteries either Lithium or Alkaline. I had four Lithium and used them BUT I didn't have a new set but two of the batteries had been used before but showed good so I went ahead and used them....a mistake as I later learned. I got the outside sensor up and mounted on top of my pole where I had the old system's outdoor sensor. (I had decided not to pull the old system down yet as I still have a spare outdoor sensor for it and wanted to used it as long as possible due to the number of indoor receiving stations it serves.) Anyway, I got the pole back up after getting a signal on the indoor unit that indicated that it was receiving the outdoor sensor's signal OK. I then installed the display receiver in my computer room about 60 feet from the outdoor sensor. (It is inside a trailer, but the display inside seemed to pick up the signal OK.) I then installed the software for the Underground Weather on a i3 computer running Win 10 Pro. The only problem I ran into with that was the way the software loads. It loads at startup and if you closed the on screen display with the (X) it shuts the item down instead of sinking it to the tray as I thought it would. This is not a major problem for me as this computer is a back up for use when my other systems are tied up. The software worked mostly as it was suppose to but I never was able to get full functionality out of it, but this was a minor thing for me as the outdoor and indoor items were what I really wanted anyway. Then I ran into trouble. My indoor sensor stopped showing a solid signal from the outdoor sensor. As the temps changed, the signal would go up and down. (It would drop off when the outside temps went up and come back on at night when the temps dropped off. At first I checked the indoor display as that was what I ran into on my old system when the batteries started to go down. After that. I finally pulled down the outdoor sensor and read the voltages off the four batteries one at a time. Turned out one of the used batteries I had used wouldn't even hold a acceptable voltage on the Vol-Ohm meter! I replaced the four batteries with NEW Lithium batteries, checked for signal and to my surprise I had to go completely thru the setup procedure on the indoor display again to get it to see the outdoor unit again. But when I carried this out it popped up "seeing" the outdoor unit with a solid signal and I haven't had any further problems. I have a solid signal with only a minor drop off at this time. (I still plan on getting the signal extension device as need to go thru the side of a trailer to hit the display unit and I think that might be the reason for the slight drop off at times.) Overall, I find this item to be just what I needed to replace to old system as I go forward in time. Not a bad weather station that's upgradable at all!

Acu-Rite 5 in One and some great software you can get for use with it, Meteobridge!
These 5 in 1 Acu-Rite weather stations work quite well for the price you pay. Make sure you point it south according to the Arrow that's on it. I use the compass on my iPhone which will show what direction south is. If it's not pointed correctly, what the display says will be wrong!!! Blowing south when it's really north for example. You should see a small arrow on top near the solar panel the points to the rain collector and says south. That means the wing speed, solar panel end would be pointing north. While the weather reporting software that comes with Acu-Rites work ok, they're pretty basic. There's better software for Windows called VIS. You can download it from here. I used this for over a year and it works great and does so much more. [...] I wanted to offload all this software I had running on my Windows computer including VIS. It's called Meteobridge. It's firmware you can install on a few different mini wifi routers. I got the D-Link DIR-505 right here at Amazon for $20 and it's PRIME also. That's a great deal. Watch out for the others being sold here for a lot more from 3rd party's. This only uses 1-2 watts of power. Once it's setup, you rarely have to do anything with it. It'll be running problem free for days on end. It'll even auto update. It will pretty much work on all Acu-Rate 5 in 1 units, even if not directly listed, and also work wit the Acu-Rite bridge. One thing to note, if you plug the Acu-Rite directly into the D-Link Wifi Router, it will NOT connect or work. It has to do with USB1 in the Acu-Rite and the D-Link not supporting it. So using a cheap USB hub. Doesn't matter what one really, I got this small cheap one. Doesn't even need to be powered. Plug the Acu-Rite into the USB Hub and then the Hub into the D-Link and it works perfect!!! You can use the Wifi of the D-Link to connect to your main router, I was able to directly plug it into my network by Ethernet. Anyway you can now report your weather not only to Weather Underground (In Rabid Fire also!!!), but to Weather Cloud, AWEKAS, WeatherBug Backyard, WeatherForYou (PWS), Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP), and others. The D-Link DIR-505 is $20, and Meteobridge is around $75 for the lifetime license on the device. It's a pretty good deal. You can Demo it for FREE for 2 weeks. It fully works for those 2 weeks. See how you like it. I think it's a great setup to use with Acu-Rite units. Weather Underground has great iOS iPhone and iPad Apps to use. You can easily check out your weather anywhere in the world. [...] Great way to make the most of if your Acu-Rite 5 in 1 system!!!

Inexpennsive, quality weather station with many features.
Easy to install, accurate measure of temperature, wind, humidity (hasn't rained yet, but will review that feature later). After weeks of research, I choose the AcuRite Pro Color Weather Station for its complete solution to our weather tracking needs. My wife is the amateur meteorologist in the family, so this was a gift for her recent birthday. She loves it. We have a simpler unit from Oregon Scientific and that works great, too, but doesn't offer PC connect, rain or wind measurement. We live on a small (6 acre) ranch and grow many types of plants, both decorative and consumable so need to have a good understanding of our weather patterns in this particular micro-climate. Haven't tested the PC connect feature, but will review that later.

OK for general use, but not accurate for more severe weather.
I had intended to give this product a higher rating because it is nice, but after going through hurricane Irma, I can honestly say that some of the features aren't really that accurate. Over our two heaviest days of rain, it recorded approximately 17" of rain. As crazy as this sounds, I believe this is pretty close to accurate (within a few inches) as our local weather stations estimated that we received well over 12" of rain but that is based on local Doppler estimates and not actual rain gauge measurements). The biggest disappointment was with the wind gauge which I believe under-reported the wind speed we encountered by a significant amount. For the most part, there were a few times when it registered wind speeds up to 24 mph, twice at 26 mph, and one (top wind) at 29 mph during the entire time period. This is pretty much 'completely wrong' considering the fact that it is not unusual for the system to read 12 mph on a breezy or stormy day, while during the hurricane weather stations we reporting winds of 40, 50 & 60 mph winds. Please note that I live in NE Florida and we did get hammered with the most rain I have experienced in the 40 years I have lived here. The weather station is located between 8 - 9 feet above ground (several feet above fence level) and about 30 feet from my house so there isn't really anything that would obstruct the wind. Two more reasons why I believe the wind tracking is off is because our strongest winds were blowing parallel to the house which meant that there was well over 500 feet of open space for the wind to sweep through with no obstructions and the 'final straw' was the fact that I lost a 25 foot main limb on one of my (very healthy) trees in the front of my house. The final complaint I had was when the temp recordings went 'completely crazy' during the storm. I'm guessing that water may have gotten to some of the sensors because it was giving me readings as low as -40 degrees (F) and everything in between to the correct temperature for about 15 minutes. (This issue only happened once.) In summary, this is nice to have if you want to know general information on an average day, but this is not very accurate for more extreme conditions.

Great weather station. Got 8 years out of it
Great for home use. We got 8 years out of it - mounted it up above the roof ridge of our house.

Works perfectly.
Great buy! I love this weather station. I purchased one for myself and one as a gift and both are being put to good use and seem to be very accurate. Installation was very simple; I tried the mount that came with it for the outside unit but I am limited on places to mount it so I ended up buying a 6 foot steel rod and slipping a piece of 3/4 inch pvc pipe over it and mounted it in my yard which seems to give the wind and rain gauges more accuracy. Overall this is a great product and I have no complaints.

Waste of money. Does not perform as advertised. Even as simple thermometer it's unreliable.
Temp is always off, mobile software does not work, support is horrendous. Purchased in December 2015 and have finally (now Sept 2017) replaced it with a LaCrosse station at half the cost. The LaCrosse connects through wifi to NWS for local wind direction which is more useful than measuring around your own house where those are affected by local topography and buildings. Your house could sit against a hill which would affect direction. So while your AccuRite station says the wind is from WSW, the actual wind affecting your AREA could be from a totally different direction and thus the weather pattern will be different. Pros: Rain collector is accurate and it displays monthly and yearly totals on the screen, very convenient. Batteries in the main sensor unit on the roof last forever. Replaced them after a 15 months only because I was worried. There was no sign of battery failure. Alarms for min and max values of various data. Cute weatherticker on main display showing interesting facts about your own weather. CONS: The main one being that the temperature is absolutely unreliable when the sun shines. Who on earth decided to put the temp sensor in the same unit as the rain bucket, hygrometer, anemometer and windvane? You have to mount the sensor unit out in the open and the minute the sun comes out it warms up the entire unit, throwing off the temp. Temperature indications is absolutely unreliable when the sun is out. I live within 3 miles of a major int'l airport with no mountains inbetween. Barometric pressure is always off by a few tenths of in/hg. At least the trend is accurate which is more important. But still... The mobile software simply does not work. When I posed a question on their support forum I got zero support but instead got verbally attacked by another user (or was he actually affiliated with AccuRite, we'll never know) for posing questions and suggestions and demanding that they fix their defective software. Will not connect to Weather Underground and the company again has been of ZERO help. I realize that stuff does not always work, but for AccuRite to advertise this unit connects with your phone and all the wonderful things it can do, when in fact it simply is not true... has turned me off from this company forever. I've had weather stations for many years, going back to the 90's but this one has been the worst.

NICE UNIT BUT CALIBRATION A MUST.
In reading the product reviews I was somewhat reluctant to purchase this product. However this is a intricate measuring device which requires proper calibration. I had no issues calibrating the unit. 1. Located the remote unit in the house and let it acclimatize for 6 hours before recording actual vrs what the remote (outdoor) and base unit (indoor) was reading. Adjusted accordingly. 2. Located the remote unit outside my back door and leveled it as per installation instructions. I also installed the optional remote battery pack to confirm it is working ok. I hung a Tim Horton's (Canada Eh) coffee cup over the rain collection cup and dripped the measured amount of water to calibrate the device. This takes time and patience, you can't take shortcuts. Tried and ended up spending considerable time doing this step. 3. With all calibrations completed I installed and leveled (important for accurate rain readings) the remote unit, The same day a violent storm tested the unit capability. Recorded a wind speed in access of 90KM/hr. The unit is still working as designed. Too bad my flag pole didn't survive the storm as it snapped in two.

Mostly good
The unit works well and seems accurate, the base unit and sensor stay connected with no problems. I gave 4 stars because of the online connectivity problems. it isn't made clear in the product information that you have to either have it hard wired to a computer via USB cable or Acurite's stand-alone wireless connection box called Acurite Access. Their stand-alone box is ridiculously expensive at CDN $150. Also, the Acurite PC connect software for Apple Mac is clunky and often loses connection, even though it is hard-wired, as well as losing connection with weather services, I use Weather Underground. So long story short it works great as a stand-alone weather station with a nice colour display but if you want to connect to your home wifi network so you can broadcast your personal weather data you have to spend significantly more.

Well built system.
Replacing an older system that had to be partially hard wired and didn't last 2 years (from Canadian Tire) . Saw this bad boy on Amazon and ordered it , it arrived within two days . It was super easy and fast to install , and the best part it worked and has lasted two years with out battery replacement even yet . Has a ton of features and can be backed up via your computer , adjustable night display too , lots of given info for the weather freak in your family .
