Are the led lights like the newer, brighter color led lights or like the older color led ree lights?

They look like my new outside LED lights.

How long do the batteries last?

ladt year I had them on the timer setting. The batteries lasted about 4 weeks

Would this work well on a banister?

It worked on our banister but I could have used a few more to do what I wanted to go down the front of the banister. This year I plan to put two red ribbons on the front of the banister
