Is the gold in the engraving a paint or enamel or something else?

I want to say it's a paint, it hasn't wore out on me yet and they look very pretty. I use my actual blood when using Futhark runes to enhance the power of them so I have used sanitizer on them prior of use as well as have washed them using low heat water and I they have yet to fade or chip.

does this come with any sort of guide book?

No. They do come in a bag. I bought the " Runes for Beginners" book by Lisa Chamberlain. It's an awesome guide. Show how to do readings, divination, rune magic, and it explained the meanings.
