Good game held back by poor controls
The controls seem to be a significant downgrade from the earlier titles. I often find myself standing at the bottom of a ladder during a mission and not being able to climb. Movement is also clunky and I could not get used to it.That being said, the story is engaging and the graphics are very appealing. Hopefully in the future, Ubisoft will upgrade their game engine to make it handle better.

The best game in the series. One of my favorite games EVER.
I have read this a lot, "I often wonder how much I would have loved this game if not for Unity." or, "Man this is a great game, a shame Unity soured the experience for many." and finally, "After Unity I am done with this damn series!"Okay this isn't Unity. I don't care that it has the Assassins Creed brand stamped on it. It's not so please stop fellow gamers. I get the complaints and problems with Unity, especially with the bugs (I liked the game and had limited problems). But in no way shape or form does this game resemble that and to ignore this game because of Unity is only ruining your experience of playing this fantastic game. The Fry twins are my favorite characters of the series. I know Ezio is considered the only choice for many, while some may point to Kenway. But these two are by far the best written characters of the series. From the dialog to the personalities these feel like amazingly real characters. The setting is simply sensational and the graphics are amazing. The only thing this game really suffers from is the same thing each entry in the series does, the way the story is told. Syndicate has a very good story and amazing characters but the quests are pretty spaced out. You could end up building your gang for awhile or do a side mission and the main story isn't as fresh. Or other interesting side mission chains I'd forget details because I spent hours working on something else. The story simply needs to flow better and they need to find a new way to make it digestible. I mean imagine reading a book, starting at chapter 25, then 30, then 7, 1, 3, 2, 14. But wait there is a short story in another book that is interesting lets read that, and then lets read another one. I just can't take it sometimes.Another issue is the rep building activities are grindy. One can only steal so many supplies, kill so many leaders, kidnap so many members of important, and wipe out blighter strongholds. Before it gets old. Now I didn't mind any of it, since I am an older MMO player when rep grinds were considered fun.But by the time you grind out the rep with each person, you don't need the items you unlock at max rep. That and you spend so much time doing the grinds you forget even more about the story. Finally I just focused on the story and side quests - that worked much better. The combat it way too simple for tastes. I would have liked a Batman Arkham Knight feel if they were going with a simple but appealing style.I know that seems like a ton of negative but there are a ton of positives. Tell me how many games are made in Victorian London? Very very few to none. I don't mean Steampunk. I mean this Era itself. If you do find some indie game it won't have these level of graphics. So lets break it down.Pros- Victorian London setting- The Fry Twins (unbelievable dialog and chemistry, simply masterful)- Strong supporting cast and villains- Graphics- building up the rooks- Beautiful art direction- offered me 45 hours of playtime- community events that unlocks Uplay store currencyCons-Tiring companion rep grind- Broken up story- side activities grow old after a handful of hours- overly simplistic combat- offering microtransactions to get in game currency. Which seems to be the reason the rep grind and activities seem like a chore to get some extra cash.I know I said I loved this game and it is one of my very favorite games ever. But that doesn't mean I will ignore the flaws or complaints. I loved the game for what it offered. Not what it missed on. The parts well done were masterfully done so the flaws take nothing away for me personally but that may not be the case for someone else.GradeB+

Don't buy it...
First of all, if u ever had a chance to see a review of mine, you will realize that I hate to give away bad reviews, but this case is necessary that u listen to me.Understand my frustration, I simply love this game, played at my buddy's house one day and bought it on very next day, but like HUNDRED of THOUSANDS of people, my cutting edge $6,000 computer with expansive video adapter, and 100% update drivers, SO and all Genuine software, from windows 10 to a simple winrar.... My 20 years IT working experience, were good for nothing when it came about running this game, I trashed my money and time on this, I tried all patches, fix and whatever else I found, guess what? none worked, every time it ran slower, crashed or didn't run at all, Ubisoft should refund people... How am I supposed to trust Ubisoft and buy other game again, ever?...... Shame... Shame.... Shame... Shame... Shame...

BORING!
I don't normally give 2 stars nor write game reviews. But since I am a big fan of this game series since its start back in 2008, I thought it would be unfair for UBISOFT to continue ruining this game. And here is why this game deserves even less than 2 stars:1- The new combat system is not dynamic and out of control. You cannot really manage killing opponents the way you really want to. Switching among whomever you're fighting is a nightmare and killing them is just a coincidence or just a rush experience every time, I would call it. I remember that this was the most fun part of the game, that you have full control on how to grab and kill enemies.2. The game is too big and its environment is nice but mission and side mission are scattered all over the huge map. There is no solid, good story in it. Every mission is isolated. So you keep loading and loading every time you start something - you reach your destination, then the game loads that mission or scenario for you, then you finish it, and move to the next. This is not fun and boring. It is like you're playing small, small games within one big game. There is no continuity nor suspense. Missions are too easy and never challenging but rather short and boring.3. I don't see much difference between the skills of the two characters nor special abilities that really matter. Only the appearance and the stupid bazaar canvases and outfits that you spend your money on buying which add no value or whatsoever.4- I did not enjoy the game because I felt that it is very repetitive and isolated. The story-line is weak and boring. Even characters are all look alike. it is like 10 years old game. That's a shame!I do not really recommend this game to anyone. BORING! BORING! BORING!

Great game!@
Its enjoyable. I felt a big impulse to buy it because of how fun it seemed to play adding the undenaible beautiful graphics of the victorian London and the playable female character Evie and her guffy twin brother Jacob. In spite of some downfalls i still enjoyed the gameplay.I totally recomend it!!

I do really love the Assassin's Creed series
I do really love the Assassin's Creed series, but I feel as if they're straying away more and more from the original formula (for lack of a better word). In the first few games, there was a story that was set in the past, and one in the future that followed Desmond Miles. Now, we don't really get much of the present story line. You're just playing a random initiate who gets contacted by the Assassins. Also, through the entirety of my play-thru, there has never been a point where the mouth animation and audio have been in synch. It got tremendously frustrating.
