GEAppliances WE4M181 Dryer Cycling Thermostat

Local cost for this genuine GE part was nearly 2x $s - AMZ price was only $28. This part fixed the problem of not enough or very little heat. Was reported that 67% of the time when this problem is present, this replacement part would likely fix the issue. It did for me! While it is not a simple job to replace unless you are very handy, have the correct basic tools, patience and a helper, then this is really doable. I YT'd the process to disassemble the dryer and replace this part. The most challenging part was getting the drum belt back on...very tricky. I also replaced the four plastic slide guides( 2 white and 2 dark green - add'l $20) that also stopped the drum from squeaking while running. Took about 2 hours to complete....but for two 65 y.o. I likely saved a $200 house call (for an outlay of $48.00 total). Not for the uninitiated. Wear gloves...many sharp metal edges while working in and around the dryer cabinet. Good Luck.

An item in packaging that says GE WE-4M181 Thermostat arrived today. 1/20/18But the item actually in the bag is a thermometer!The bag has clearly been resealed, with a heat sealer (like a vacuum sealer).Returned started been started. We will see how the next item arrives. I'm am concerned because obviously these "Genuine GE parts" are NOT new OEM parts.I will update when the replacement arrives.Replacement arrived. This time it was a NEW part in ORIGINAL packaging.From what I can tell the Thermostat worked.(swapping the thermostat did not fix the Auto Dry Cycle issue with my Dryer, but there are other possible causes)I'll give it two stars since I eventually got the right part, but no more because amazon is shipping used parts in used packaging and describing it as New parts in New packaging.

Got this to fix a dryer that was shutting off after a few minutes when started. The old thermostat had failed and the dryer would overheat since it was stuck on. Thankfully the over temperature portion was still working and would turn the whole thing off. After a quick disassembly, the swap over couldn't be any easier. The money spent on this was well worth not having to give in and get a new dryer. Would recommend!

Husband ordered this at the last minute to helping my father in law fix his dryer that he was selling during a move out of his old home. Husband got part, installed it the next day and no problems. Dryer is hotter than before

Perfect fit for my dryer but after I tested old part with a multimeter realized the part didn't need repair.

The repairman wanted $200.00 to fix this dryer.I ordered this and watched the You Tube video.I did it myself and it works perfectly!! :)

No need for a technician. Order and install yourself. Anyone capable of lifting 30 lbs can do it.Dryer was spinning and blowing air. But would not heat up. Replaced this part and its been running as it should. Saved me a couple of hundred bucks.

My drier was overheating and shutting off. This fixed it right up.
