Great weight distribution and extremely sharp
Best sale item ever!!! I got it on sale half off and Out of all of my knives, this one is my favorite. The handle is very easy to hold and fills my palms well. The handle is heavy while the knife part is light. I like this especially since I have wrist issues when the knife part is too heavy but this distributed the weight for me. Came in super sharp and cuts fruits and vegetables easily.

Great for the price!
A great feeling knife. Well balanced and light. My only complaint would be that its a bit too light for a 67layer Damascus blade. That being said its still and acceptional blade and very sharp!

Very comfortable and sharp knife!
I used this knife over the weekend and it has been great. The handle feel very ergonomic and the weight is very well balanced. Chopping carrots with this knife, which is my personal knife test, was a breeze. Great bang for your buck with this knife.

Needs to keep it's edge
Did not stay sharp. Craftsmen ship awesome holds nicely. But not sharp as should be. I have been a meat cutter-needs to keep it's edge

Whoops
Started off great but this knife chipped so easily and I had to stop using it about a month in. Back to using the 20 year old chefs knife I have.

Well-made chef's knife
I'm blessed to own a number of really top-quality knives, so I was eager to see how this one would stack up to my favorites, and for the most part, I haven't been disappointed. Considering the relatively modest price point, this makes the Jxwing a great alternative to other higher-priced chef's knives.A lot of any knife is just how it feels in your hand. I found this knife to have a somewhat thicker handle than most that took a bit of getting used to. At first, the handle felt a bit awkward in my smallish hands, but with some use, I quickly got used to it. Otherwise, the balance is very good, and the materials are of high quality. Although the handle is crafted and polished well, the material isn't so slick as to be slippery in your hands - I like that. The 8" blade is well proportioned and fits a wide range of tasks, from slicing to carving. I found the blade to be slightly thin and with a bit more flex than some other brands, but I don't think this is a bad thing - I'd rather have a knife with some flex than to have the blade deform or break under stress. The VG10 steel used in this knife is probably a good choice for most kitchen environments. It's hard enough to hold a sharp edge, but not so hard as to be brittle or difficult to sharpen. VG10 also has a high chromium content, making it rust and stain-resistant. Some of the softer steels such as you find in many of the German brands are better at cutting through bone and so forth - they'll require more frequent sharpening, but they're less likely to chip. VG10 blades like this one are best where the keen edge is most important: precision slicing and so on.Speaking of the edge, I found the Jxwing blade to be of medium sharpness out of the box. Right out of the box, it seemed sharp, but it couldn't pass the "paper test". I'm happy to say that with about ten minutes of honing and stropping, it passes the paper test with flying colors, and it's held onto that sharpness, even after many uses.Overall, this is a good knife that holds its own against many much more expensive products. It's well-made of quality materials, and more than anything, it feels right in your hands. If you're looking for a good-quality chef's knife that won't break the bank, this one is definitely worth a look.

A beautiful, extremely sharp, knife!
I was going through the Deals Store on my birthday, looking to get a present for myself, when I came across this knife. I have always wanted a nice quality knife but did not want to spend over a hundred dollars for just one knife, it's not like I'm a pro chef or anything. When I saw this one on sale for $50, I couldn't resist it. After a week filled with anticipation, it finally arrived, and I definitely was not disappointed. Simply put, this is a BEAUTIFUL knife. So sharp out of the box that I'm sure I could shave with it if I gave it a try. The layered Damascus steel-clad blade is much nicer than I expected, and I find the Phoenix pattern to be very attractive. I have noticed at least one other review that mentioned the logo is distracting from the appearance, but I didn't find that at all. In fact, just changing the angle of the blade a bit and the logo all but vanishes, and you won't notice it when you are using it. You can see that in the pics I've included, not that a logo makes any difference in the performance of the knife. The box is suitable for gift giving and like all quality knives, there are protectors on the tip and heel of the blade for safety.I must mention that it is a very heavy knife, weighing in at 240 grams on my kitchen scale, a full 65 grams heavier than the heaviest knife, a Cuisinart Santoku, that I own. Despite the weight, it's very well-balanced and easy to control. The handle is nicely shaped, with a gentle curve that fits comfortably in the palm of my hand. I have about average sized hands, and think most people would find it a comfortable grip.Did I mention that it was sharp? It passed the paper cutting test easily, reducing a sheet of printer paper, and a grocery store flyer, to thin strips with no effort at all. It cuts through carrots and celery just as easily, and I was able to make paper thin slices of tomato with ease. I also cut up two fresh chickens into parts like a hot blade through butter, cutting through joints smoothly with no difficulty. Slicing through a boneless roast beef was equally effortless, and I was easily able to slice it as thin as I could ever wish. Trimming the fat from a steak was as smooth as could be expected. As for the steel of the blade itself, yes, it is a true Damascus steel blade and I trust that the core is Japanese VG10 steel. Yes, it is made in China. That does not prevent it from being made from Japanese steel or from being a Damascus blade. This is an excellent knife for the price, even at full price it is well worth it when you compare it to Japanese made knives which can easily cost double or triple the price, if not more. At half price, it was a fantastic bargain. I have noticed while looking at other knives on Amazon, that there seem to be a number of others with the same handle design and material, and similar descriptions, right down to the gift box design. The main difference seems to be in the pattern of the Damascus layers on the blade. I suspect that one manufacturer is providing knives for multiple companies under different brand names. A bit of research I did on YouTube and on the net seems to confirm that, but I have no way to verify if this is correct. But if you do not like the logo or pattern on this knife, check around for others, and you may well find something more to your liking. I doubt you will find a better knife for the price, however. The bottom line is that I really love this knife. So much so that I've also purchased a whetstone kit for the day I will need to sharpen this blade. As nice an edge as it has, even the best knives lose it eventually and need to be refreshed. With a VG10 steel knife, this should not be done with a regular pull sharpener or honing steel, it must be done on a whetstone or professionally sharpened to avoid potentially damaging or even ruining the edge. There is one thing that surprised me with this knife, and I must say disappointed me somewhat, and that is the fact this blade is sharpened with a 20-degree angle and not 15-degree as are most other Damascus steel blades on the market. If this is important to you, you should know that before purchasing as it is not noted anywhere in the description of the knife. It might have influenced my decision if I had bought it at the full regular price, but at $50 on sale, I would have decided to get it nonetheless and would have been just as satisfied with my decision.Other than that detail, this is an excellent knife, easily the best I have ever owned - and I have owned a lot of knives in my 64 years. It is a pleasure to use, and I believe it will make everything I prepare in the kitchen go just that much quicker and taste just a touch better. At least in my mind it will. :)

Very sharp, nice grip.
This is beautiful feather damascus steel made of two types of high-grade stainless steel, so it will not rust, it is then placed on the sides of a piece of premium edge steel like a Sami-style blade. I own two of them now :) Other than that, it cuts really nice and holds nice in the hand. It will cut through bone, so be careful while cutting apart chicken for example. Or you can find yourself eating a bit of bone left in the meat. It cut so well that I didn't feel the blade make contact with the bone of the chicken. Very sharp. The sharpest knife in my kitchen!

SHARP!
Could not believe how sharp this chefs knife is.Almost afraid to use it. LOLBeautiful knife, well balanced and looks attractive. I agree with a lot of people being a little turned off by the large LOGO embedded in the blade, which is the only reason I gave 4 star rating. This is a positive addition to my kitchen!
