Five Ten Men's Minnaar (2012) Bike Shoe

These work perfectly for mountain biking in rough conditions. The clip's never come lose like other pairs I've owned. The build quality is superb. To top that off, these are so comfortable that I've taken to wearing them daily. After a month or so of doing this, however, they've developed a squeak that I suspect is an indicator of materials losing their bond internally. Only time will tell for sure, and I'll relegate these to their intended purpose so as not to exacerbate such an issue. UPDATE: I was wearing these during Atlanta's Snowpocalypse 2014. I spent 4-5 hours pushing vehicles up an icy hill wearing these and received several positive comments about my "ice walk," and lack of spills during the Snowpocalypse. I was mostly just careful and used kitty litter for traction, but these shoes did a right decent job of keeping my feet safe and warm in frigged temperatures. These things really are ankle high boots. UPDATE Year 2: I think it's time to replace the soles. I've had these for two years at this point. Accidentally forgot my tennis shoes, and played wearing these instead. It wasn't ideal, but they performed rather well; had fun. UPDATE Year 13: I wish these were still available... I continue to use these, though I do not ride much anymore. I've been through three bikes, but these shoes remain. Ratty? You bet. Solid as a rock? Quartz.

Solid, well-made, and the recess for the SPD cleats is deep enough that they don't touch the ground indoors. They do still grind a bit on concrete/uneven surfaces, but even the hardwood floors in my apartment are unscathed. Nice, stiff soles make for decently efficient power transfer to the pedals (though not as good as road-specific shoes), but they're not too stiff - just a little flex - and the rubber outsole makes for quiet, comfortable walking. Plus, they look great. My only gripe is that they're just a touch too short for me to stand around in all day. Not that I plan on doing that; these are for riding, and riding only. I just wish they offered them in an 11.5 or 12...

UnfreakinBeliavable ! they amazing ! yes heavy - yes the sole is almost bent kinda steel . but they prepared for any impact - sturdy as hell ! But looks amazing ! fit perfectly !! very happy ! and super fast DELIEVERY - just One Day ! they became one of my favorite shoes ! and I have a lot shoes from 2.000$ and lower - this are cheapest I have but I'm love them ! and keep in mind on the picture are 46 size/12us - and they looks tiny

These are great shoes. The build quality is excellent, and the stealth rubber sole is great. They are not as stiff as some other shoes, and they are fairly heavy, but these are downhill shoes. They aren't really designed for long distance riding with climbs. Overall, these are really good. I would buy them again.

Gave these 3 stars because they are just way too heavy and bulky. Went and tried on some Pearl Izumi clipless shoes and decided to get those and return these. The biggest reason I returned these was due to having to put the cleats as far in as possible but the shoes still rubbed on my crank arm so I would have had to cut the inner sole out for more clearance. I'm running crank brothers mallet 3's and these are too stiff to get a pure platform feel from them with the pedal studs. My izumi shoes had more flex which enabled me to lower the pedal studs down and get more bite. Plus the fact that my pair of Pearl Izumi shoes weighed less than 1 of these shoes.

poor inner support. only shoe I have ever worn that made my feet go numb on a short bike ride.

I've used these shoes clipped in with my Crank Brothers Mallet 2's, and I've used them on my platform Deity Decoy pedals, and they performed great with both. No problem attaching the Crank Brothers cleat onto these shoes what so ever. And when clipping on and off the pedals, they hooked in quick and easy and clipped off just as easy and quick!! When I used these on my platform pedals to jump with, they gripped to the pedals like they were glued on, and gave great support when hitting drops and landing hard hits!! I've give these a two thumbs up for their PRICE, COMFORT, GOOD LOOKS, & FUNCTION on each style of pedal!!

Bought these for my husband, who is a downhill mtbiker. He really likes Five Ten's and this is not his first pair. These are very sturdy shoes. I like the leather as his old non-leather shoes came apart at the seams by the soles (but he rode in those all of the time and really beat them up). His only negative comment was the weight of the shoes, they are heavy. Overall, he is happy.
