does this have to be rinsed or wiped off, or can it be coated over after drying without rinsing/wiping?

My experience. Used it this summer on some serious rust on a jeep floor panel. I followed manf. instructions best as I could. Removed as much loose rust as possible.Thoroughly wet it down w/metal blast, waited, and rinsed with water while metal blast was still wet. I let it dry completely before coating with rust bullet. I could see the transformation of the rust layer after metal blast. Seemed to convert the rust to a solid base. I believe this uses phosphoric acid, so likely the reason for thorough rinsing. I would think the rust bullet may not adhere well if any residual acid is left behind. If left to dry, maybe respray a bit and rinse while still wet.Overall, seemed to work pretty good. I used this combo on many rusted areas on the jeep. In some spots aluminum body filler was used followed by paint. So far holding up ok. Will tell better after the salty upstate NY winter. The key is getting to ALL the rust. Good luck.

how is the product used?

We put it in a spray bottle and we're using it to remove the rust from my old truck.

Can I rinse this off with isopropyl alcohol or acetone rather than water?

No,don't know what will mix with this paint to dilute or clean tools. I try to clean my hands with: acetone,solvent,alcohol and no results. Some how some amount came of on my hands by hand cleaner mechanics used. Probably will come off in your hands in 2 weeks. On the car I clean with denatured alcohol before cumplit dry. For this reason I warned everyone to wear gloves. I know gloves they stick to brush handles and come off. For this reason my hands got this paint on and have to wait 2weeks to clean by self. From what I remember I used 2 different paints:1- Rust Bullet (gray color) 2-Sherlac Black (black color) for UV protection and oil protector. Know I'm spraying Fluid Film over and inside frame and stop rust. Never have a issues cleaning my hands from a paint before includes Por15. After 3 years looks good on North East

Pretty good stuff

Easy to apply. Seems to help with rust. I scrapped off as much rust as I could and applied this product and it did remove more of it. Smells like an acid, so it must also etch the metal for painting.

Works great

This stuff really works. WAY better than repainting. Just watch out for the runoff. The product will bleach out whatever it sits on. It does leave the underlying paint alone, though. I'll get it again for sure.

Rust gone no sanding

This stuff was amazing. Had to spray in a couple of times but did the job. It does kill your grass so next time will use on a gravel area.

Doesn't work, not worth it...

All it does is leave a white powdery mess. At first you think it's metallic-looking and clean, and then you scrape it off and realize the rust is still there...and oh yeah, anything it touches that's black plastic gets permanently etched with light gray splatter marks. Ruined the last piece of original engine trim I had left on the car...now I need to replace that too. Doesn't matter if it's a little rust or a lot...you get better results with just a wire brush. Set me back months on my project. Wish I never touched the stuff. Listen to the people who say it doesn't work...the people posting positive reviews with pictures of white powder everywhere haven't realized it's not doing anything.

Buen producto, cumple el trabajo

El producto cumple con el trabajo. La dosificación se puede graduar desde un chorro hasta un rocío muy parejo y el óxido desaparece a los pocos minutos de la aplicación. Hice un par de pruebas y funcionó muy bien para mí en todas ellas. En algunos casos el metal recuperaba el color gris sin mayor esfuerzo, y en otros tuve que realizar un lijado suave. Ay que tener mucho cuidado porque es tóxico para la piel. Recomendable
