With the same frank advice and empowering information that made Nice Girls Don't Get the Comer Office a New York Times bestseller, Lois Frankel tackles the 75 financial mistakes that keep women from having the wealth they deserve. If you have outstanding balances on your credit cards...don't have assets in your own name...are saving instead of investing, then chances are you're not rich and not living the life you want. Without your awareness, behaviors learned as a girl are preventing you from becoming a woman who is financially independent and free to follow her dreams. Lois Frankel isolates the messages about money given to little girls that little boys never hear. Then she helps you discover the financial thinking that is keeping you stuck in old patterns, dependent relationships, and jobs where you earn less than you deserve. Once you get to the root of the problem, Frankel helps you solve it-with fabulous results. Her coaching tips help you take control of your finances and make more money than you ever thought possible. Do you make these "nice girl" mistakes? Mistake #4: Not playing to win. Being polite, quiet, and fair to a fault is playing the financial game "like a girl." Mistake #10: Choosing to remain financially illiterate. Knowledge is power. Learn to manage your major purchases, investments, and banking. Mistake #20: Spending as an emotional crutch. Understand your emotions; don't make purchases just to lift your spirits. Mistake #45: Saving instead of investing. Fear can keep your funds in low-interest accounts. Get educated about investing. Get wealthy. Frankel gives you the financial savvy to change negative behaviors, make smart money choices, and embrace the life you want sooner than you think. Review: Worth the read - Just finished this one. I took notes and I’m using the advice going forward. I intend to reread when I am ready. I will be telling friends and family to read as well. The advice is so valuable. Review: As 22yr old blue collar worker I loved this book - Why don't I have more money? Often I wonder when TXT my bank and receive a bank balance I am not happy with. Why Nice Girls Don't Get Rich has helped me reavaluate where I spend my money and also why I spend my money as I do. I love this book by Lois Frankel and I recommend it to my friends and family who have budgets but still struggle with having as much spending money as they want. Coz surely life is not all about paying bills but actually living. Lois Frankel addresses the cultural reasons why women aren't necessarily bad with money but emotionally mis-led with money and how we can learn to control the cultural messages we have been taught growing up and receive from peer pressure. I recommend this book to any girl in her 20s who wants to make more from her money than just a few guilty shopping splurges once a month!

Damn good boom
This book is a must have for women in their 20s, 30s or 40s. Its my third copy. I am 31 and I reccommend this book. I wish she would do a sequel about stock real estate and go in more details for those ready to graduate into investing. I plan to be on millionaire status by 41 by dancing and investing cash in real estate. Good luck ladies!

Puts You in the Right Mindset
Read this one cover to cover during a trip. Again, it talks about the dangers of letting your nice girl thoughts and behaviors take over when it comes to managing your money. The one gripe I have is that it focuses more on women who are already halfway to rich, working in high paying professions. However it did give me a few ideas for simple steps I can take to get better control over my finances. It also gives you the proper perspective when looking at your money -- she basically says it's your money and you shouldn't have to feel obligated as a woman to give it away to everyone who wants a piece.

Excellent gift for all Mothers to give to their Daughters
Excellent gift for all Mothers to give to their Daughters, either when they leave for college or when they graduate from college or when they become Mothers themselves. Practical and helpful. Nicely clear tests, to know where to focus to achieve desired results.

Written for the business woman
I think the value of this book to describe the mistakes that Lois has seen women make in the context of a business organization. Women who are not in that world may find it less relevant as the reviews have shown. I found it useful just as a description of her own observations..and I do think that it is true that many high-earning women do little or nothing to understand their own finances and just want not to bother with it. I also think it is a good idea to try to look at the big picture when choosing a career..but I also remember being young and in my 20's with my advisor trying to persuade me to go to medical school and I of course refusing all the advice of anyone over 30.

Loving this....
I don't know what others got from this book, but I am really loving this book. She outlines the mistakes that are made and gives you the solutions with examples of how to correct them or not make the same mistakes as other women have.

This was written for the women of the 1800s
If you belong to this generation, please get some other (any other) financial literacy book that's not written from the perspective that can only come from a life of privilege. This quote in the book made me stop reading it "financial illiteracy is a choice" - if you can travel outside your glitter ball, to any place, where even getting access to resources for financial literacy is almost impossible. Just don't.

This is a great book! Until I read it I actually thought I was managing my money brilliantly. Now I know that I wasn't and also that there is a lot I can do to rectify this. I've already started to put some of the fantastic advice in this book into action.
