A Quick, to the Point, Easy Read
As the author states, if you are destitute or have serious health care issues, this book is not for you. If you're already on Medicare, there are some tidbits of information that may help, but (in my opinion) it is probably also not for you. However, if you find yourself in the majority catagory of nearing retirement, are fairly healthy, have a steady income (before and after retirement), this book is great. It answered all but one of my questions. But I was able to write to the author and he promptly replied. His response was clear and helped tremendously. Thanks Doug! This is a short book (only 66 pgs), to the point, and addresses the questions that probably the vast majority of Americans will need to know and is easily worth the meager cost Amazon charges. Yes, it is large font, but many folks in "that age" catagory may also have vision issues, so even though my eyesite is fairly good, I did not take offense. It also makes no attempt to traverse the myriads of options (he focuses on only two options). He does address Parts A, B, & D, and Plans F & G (even the free "Medicare and You" guide from the USG doesn't cover those last two) and he briefly expresses his dislike (and why) for Part C (Medicare Advantage). In all, I would easily recommend this book.

The best advice for the majority, but you have to read with a critical and open mind to “get it”
I have to admit, when I first opened this book and started reading, I felt a bit disappointed and almost sent it back for a refund, but after boring myself to death reading a couple other books on the topic, I decided to give this a fair shot and am I glad I did. The author points out very clearly his recommendations do not apply to those who are unhealthy or barely making it and even suggests asking for a refund. Now, right to the point, the recommendations are simply brilliant. Keep in mind what insurance is meant for, protection against disasters, and don’t forget that. You want the best coverage for when you need it most and the recommendations given are simply the best options available for those not in bad health or on welfare. The author breaks it down so simply and the numbers make sense 100%.I’m glad I found this book because I have a Guarantee Issue event and I’m getting rid of the so called advantage plan and going with the recommendations made in this book. They are the only ones that make sense. Shame on the agents who push Medicare advantage and don’t even mention these ultimate plans.

Great guide, it's plated in gold compared to Medicare for Dummies
This is a really helpful guide to signing up for Medicare. I had been wading through Medicare for Dummies when I came across this guide. It simplified and made the process easy to understand, which I appreciated. As far as I'm concerned after tossing the Medicare for Dummies, this guide allowed me to sign-up for Part A and Part B and understand why I've chosen this way to go.Below is an update to my review. 3/12/2021 I got medicare for Dummies and Medicare For The Lazy Man. I dropped the Dummies book as soon as I got Medicare for The Lazy Man, I read it, read it again. Looked at the Dummies book and wondered why they waste so much verbiage and paper. The Dummies book is endorsed by AARP not necessarily in your corner, businesses are about making money. In the end Medicare For The Lazy Man was more informative without all the waste, exceptionally easy to understand and the icing on the cake, Doug was able to guide me through the process.

Finally, the answers I needed
Are you at a stage in life where your spouse is hounding you to sign up for Medicare? (I am!). Are you confused about Medicare? (Why are there four parts to this?). Confused about explanations that are full of "if this... but not that... unless...? (Yep, that's me). Looking for answers that are simple enough that even someone like me can understand them? (That's definitely me).Well look no further, this book has it all. It is written in a light hearted manner with no "if...then...but" legalese and government speak that requires a law degree to understand. And it's short enough to easily read in one setting rather than spending weeks of hair-pulling deep study.Seriously, if you need simple, complete answers to the complex Medicare plans, buy this book. You won't go wrong.Oh, and I nearly forgot, if you still have any questions after reading this book, contact the author. I did and he responded the same day, answering one last question that I had.

Recommended. Avoiding traps set by insurance companies and arbitrary charges from medical providers
The book by Douglas B Jones contains candid advice I had not seen anywhere else. Reading this book definitely changed my perspective and my sign up plans. The book tells you how to protect yourself with minimized monthly costs. Your healthcare costs (premiums and medical provider fees) depend on which state you live in. I got great help from the author via e-mail on how to handle the situation in Florida, which is a Republican controlled state heavily controlled by the insurance company lobbies.Healthcare turned into robbery in the US, unfortunately. The US congress and the senate, heavily subsidized by the money from the medical lobbies, and the insurance company lobbies, made it extremely costly, by (i) making the claim filing process very costly and complicated, (ii) allowing code-based billing by the greedy doctors, with unexpected bills, and by price fixing. Currently, there is no way of knowing how much you may be billed after the visit and by whom.
