18x does get you closer
I thought they might be too long and heavy, but there not. They are comfortable to hold and feel lighter than the Swarovski 15x56 although they are an ounce or 2 heavier by specifications. It is a noticeable difference between 18x and 15x. The 18x seemed a lot closer. If you are reading reviews to find the best high power binoculars, at this time, the best are Swarovski SLC 56. They just are. These nice quality binoculars will be joining the group as the highest power at present. I find no fault in these binoculars. Everything works as it should and the view is excellent. No regrets buying these. I got over the sticker shock of buying what is called alpha level binoculars a couple of years ago. If you are buying retail new and want this level of performance. Every binocular in regular rotation gets a bino bandit. This not only helps keep out stray light it also means that these binoculars will be used. Unlike some that are only admired.

WOW, Vortex Razors UHD18X56
Very sharp and bright, just what you would need in binoculares. Excellent for long distances in lowish light. Bought them for my wife but not for birding, they do have some heft. She has Vortex 12X52 UHD FOR birding, quite a bit lighter. I certainly would recommend these binoculars.

Old eyes, these are fantastic.
No detectable chromatic aberration and clear edge to edge well worth the money. Trying them out tonight for a little star gazing.

Amazing
These binoculars are the best that I have ever looked through. Clean, crisp, and bright detail. I have the Vortex HD 12x50 and love them. But the Vortex Razor UHD 18x56 are superior in every way. I am very pleased with every penny that I spent for these!!!

Another great Vortex Product
If you know Vortex, you know their quality is excellent. Are there perhaps better glass makers out there? Sure, but you'll pay about double for their stuff too. And the differences are, at least for me, minor. And the quality of Vortex gear is second to none. Lifetime warranty. Nuff said. These binos have a surprisingly good field of view even at full magnification. I can glass an entire mountain side easily and comfortably. I routinely use them to view the mountains behind my house at distances of almost two miles and they are excellent.
