What types of plants should I include in my pond?

A balanced pond typically includes a mix of marginal plants (for edges), oxygenators (to keep water clear), floating plants (for shade), and deep-water plants like water lilies for colour and coverage.

How do pond plants help keep the water clear?

Plants, especially oxygenators, absorb excess nutrients from the water, helping to reduce algae growth. They also shade the water, slowing algae by limiting sunlight.

When is the best time to plant pond plants?

The ideal time is spring through early summer, when temperatures are rising. This gives plants time to establish and grow strongly during the warmer months.

Do I need soil to plant in a pond?

Most pond plants do best in aquatic planting baskets filled with aquatic soil or a low-nutrient compost, which helps anchor the plants while preventing excess nutrients in the water.

Will pond plants survive the winter?

Many pond plants are hardy and will return each year, especially native UK species. However, some tropical or tender varieties may need to be moved indoors or protected.

Beware of poor quality and distressed plants sent.

Sent me a distressed, rotten plant, with bits cut off, again. Claimed that this is normal when it is not, ultimately ignored request for refund.

Healthy plant

I bought the set with the pot, earth and plant. Strong plant root and healthy leaves. Too early to tell how it will grow but I am very confident.
