Great book for primary level explaining about deserts
Great book explaining the deserts, especially the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. My grandson is interested in the causes of things, so he found it fascinating. He also is at the right age for the early reading books and this was perfect for him. There is even a glossary in the back of the book explaining the pertinent words used that are not in everyone's everyday vocabulary. Of course, there is plenty of repetition of sight words throughout the book as there are in every early reader, yet this is one of the more advanced early readers. It is a wonderful book for the primary level. This merits a Thumbs Up!

Lots of information on cactuses
We live in Arizona while our 4 year old grandson lives in California. He's fascinated with cactuses and loves this book, and wants it to be read to him very often.

favorite series
Do you want to know why Deserts are Dry? It is because they are cloudless and the land cannot hold the moisture. I did not know that! We live in a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. I bought this book for my son's birthday in June. I am happy to say we both learned while reading this book.My 5 year old is a good reader but he is young. This series is great because it provides loads of science but it's not too hard. The pages are broken up with wonderful illustrations, sections, captions but the text is readable and follows a semblance of a narrative. There are many science books you can select for a young reader but some are plagued with small font, some have vocabulary that is too hard, some lack appealing pictures or are simply too much. This series (and book) is perfect.Dr. Seuss's Learning Library hits the right note for a kinder/first grader that loves science. The series is so extensive that it is easy to pick a science topic that suits your child. My son's favorite in the series is about the Human BodyInside Your Outside: All About the Human Body (Cat in the Hat's Learning Library)

Fun informational book
We love Cat in the Hat learning library books. Great illustrations, super great information for kids to learn. Our 5 year old lobes to learn new facts when we read before bed! This book teaches kids ( and adults) all about the different desert plants and animals.

Seller sent a poor quality copy
Seller sold it as “good condition”. For that description I expect it to be basically readable with perhaps some creases, smudges from fingers, worn page corners, perhaps the odd scribble. This copy was water damaged - the first three pages were completely and irretrievably glued shut, as was the final page. That is not a book in “good condition “, that is a book in “bad condition “.If you want a review on the actual book rather than the copy I got from my seller, then I can confirm that it is wonderful, really interesting with lots of fun facts, good illustrations and frankly I’m gutted it’s not in print and readily available, it’s a brilliant book.

Can't compare with Dr. Seuss
Informative. Illustrations are good. But the words don't rhyme much. Not catchy enough.
