Catit Flower Fountain with Triple Action Filter, 3 L, Green

When I first saw this water fountain I immediately wanted it! My older cat (5-years-old) usually breaks the fountains I buy for her. By break I mean she loves water so much that she will drinks consistently throughout the day and more so during the night which makes the water level so low that the motor eventually burns out. Even though I was constantly filling the water up to the appropriate level she still managed to burn every motor of every fountain I have ever bought for her. Then I brought a kitten into our family (he is now 9 months old) and sure enough, between the two of them, the last $100 fountain I bought they broke by burning the motor out. I was not at all turned off by the fact that this fountain is made out of plastic and I did my research before deciding to purchase it. The plastic is BPA free. Both Beau (older female kitty) and Aticus (male kitten) love drinking from the spouts of the other fountains I had so this one was perfect! I really love that the base is tall enough so that the cats are not straining their necks drinking water from down below. It is at a perfect height for both of them.Some reviewers complained that there should be an indicator that the water level is low. I do not agree. As a long time fountain user for my animals, I am constantly checking the water levels on my own daily or every other day. In my opinion, this should be done regardless of the water level being too low to check for potential debris that could clog or hurt the motor. Also, the motor makes a slightly louder noise when the water level is low and over the years I have learned to attune my ears to this sound- so much that periodically over the years I have heard the sound in the middle of the night and have gotten out of bed to refill the water. This isn't a problem with me because the fountain reaps so many benefits. Some other reviewers have also complained that the motor sound is too loud. Again, I disagree. Unless these people are sleeping on the floor right next to the fountain, it is barely noticeable. To provide an idea of what it sounds like with water at the appropriate level, it is a very dim humming sound. Not nearly enough to be bothersome. The dim sound gets a bit louder when the water level is too low.I will say that it took almost two weeks for both Beau and Aticus to finally drink out of the fountain. However, Beau being the picky kitty that she is, I knew this was going to happen as it has happened with every single water fountain. Since Aticus is the baby, he follows what she does most of the time, and so both ignored the fountain at first. Both cats are fed raw food with water and TikiCat canned food mixed in so I was not worried that they were not receiving any water. My own personal trick that worked to get them to finally notice and utilize the water fountain was simple. Whenever my husband and I leave for vacation, the cats are fed Orijen Six-Fish dry food in an automatic feeder. Before being scrutinized for feeding both dry and raw food (I know the pros and cons and know that both are digested differently), I would like to say that a vacation for us is maybe once a month and lasts between a weekend and a week at the most. Of course, we have a friend come in to refill the water and tend to other cat related care, but the reason behind the dry food is that the way in which I prepare the raw food is tedious and Beau will not eat it unless it is prepared by myself or my husband (did I say she was picky?) and Aticus will sworm in and eat both his food and hers. Therefore, it makes sense to have high quality dry food once a month for both the cats and the sitters sake. I digress. My trick was simple. Since neither of them seemed to take to the fountain, I replaced their regular raw food with dry food for one day. Since the dry food lacks in moisture, I knew eventually they would both become thirsty. I was right. I watched both of them drink from the fountain later that day and now they drink out of it all of the time.All in all, the price for the fountain was remarkably cheaper than any other fountain I had previously bought them. I clean it once a week as well as the motor (unless otherwise indicated), check the water level daily or every other day, and also bought a pack of replaceable filters which are replaced once a month. Even if the motor burns out on this one (which I am hoping it doesn't) I will purchase this same fountain as the price is great! Both kitties approve and so does mom! Great product!EDIT:2016 SEPT 01The past few weeks water has been pooling in the green reservoir despite me changing the filter every month and rinsing it and cleaning the entire fountain including the pump at the end of every week. Other than that, about three weeks into the purchase the top part of the plug in broke off and I had attempted to glue it back on with no luck, but since the fountain was still functional it wasn't a huge concern and I just loosely put it back in place. That being said, I came home today to find the fountain had overflowed despite it being at medium water level. I should have known this was the fountains immanent death. Anyway, I cleaned the fountain and replaced the filter as usual and went to to plug it in and nothing. I tried different outlets and still nothing- the fountain was done for. I am disappointed that after a little less than nine months it's completely broken and unusable but because the fountain is cheap compared to other fountains I ordered a new one. I hope the new one holds up.

provides a nice steady waterflow if you adjust the watergate properly. Has a blue LED that is cool to look at in the daytime but personally ambient light bothers me at night and being able to turn it off and leave the pump on would have been preferable! there is a very important differnce most might not be awair of but me(and my cat) are. The pump impeller on the green unit is rated at qmax flow 200 L/H(leters) the blue unit(the one with the LED built into its pump housing is rated at qmax 240 L/H this difference is noted by my cat. the drinking splash pools are noted here as likely the reason fro this differnce. the picture I show the "white" impeller is about 1(or so) millimeters thicker(per blade) than the replacement motor(that is the same rating as the green fountain at 200 L/H. the Hmax is the same so the difference is in the Qmax size of the impeller in ratio to the size and torgue of the motor/amp/voltage ect and gear set. But in this case the pump's motor and gearset is identical but the impeller on the stock pump for the blue LED fountain with the splash pool dishes is larger on the blue LED fountain. the importance is only relevent if your cat requires the full nine yard treatment as mine does, being he is a large cat! 40 L per hour more is noticed by Pumkin(my cat). if you do not keep the flood gate open to the max it is irrelevent as the qmax and hmax is lessened. "Max" qmax with a 1mm thicker(1x5 square mm) is a huge difference in 40 L per hour. if you replace your pump(assembly) keep your old (white) impeller. I did google seaches(including a search on Katit website) and found NO pump replacement rated at 240 L/p qmax even the one from Katit is rated at 200/L and is sold for "both units" as a replacement. (meh) the other important note is the amount of suckion cups. the LED stock pump is a nice quiet (low humming) motor that comes with 4. most replacements only have two(attached) you will definitely hear a noise difference. the output is a difference that is not mentioned in the Blue fountain(LED) but is a notable one! My cat seems to prefer it! if it is too much output then simply lower the flood gate. the adjustment is a smooth one. not in incriments like other fountains. you can adjust it as precise as you want. the only gripe with this fountain is the LED cannot be turned off! so I just put a black cover over the pump in place of the clear one. it has the same flood vent and gate coverage so no restriction. if you do this get a pump that matches inculding the output spout being on the right(not the "left:) to match where the spout(with snorkal fitting) fits into the flower stem. finding a pump with the output spout on the right is key to gettign this fountain to work correctly!(or burn out the new pump) and google searching is not too effective at finding the correct pump! otherwise the fountain is great!

I’ve used a lot of water fountains for our cats. I used a knock off brand, two harmony brand, and Catit is the most recent brand I’ve used and I’m sticking with it.The most important reason why is because of cleaning. Harmony was a great design with easy filters to use, but it had all sorts of edges and corners that were impossible to clean regularly and time efficiently. I would have to get a q-tip to clean them, and the corners and edges got dirty faster than any part of the fountain due to the water flow being disrupted there.The knock off brand had a circular filter like Catit has, but it was only carbon filtering, and for some reason the makers decided to put edges inside of the water reservoir for no reason, leading to the same cleaning annoyance.Catit has no edges that build up gunk inside of the reservoir, everything is a smooth curve, meaning a sponge or towel can easily wipe away everything. I also like how the filter is structured, you can actually see the filter underneath the cover since it doesn’t cover it completely. This helps me know when I should clean or replace it without disassembling the whole thing. The filter also has more than carbon filtering it. I don’t remember what the white filter media is at the time of writing this review, and I’m writing it on mobile and can’t check unfortunately, but when I read it I was impressed. I own fish tanks and the media used had filter cleaning properties that carbon just doesn’t cover. We use brita filtered water anyways, but it’s nice to have a second filter making sure our cats drink clean water.Another thing is that the water pump is strong. Most brands use the same water pump that can be adjusted to weak to strong flow, but this pump has its weakest setting like the strongest setting of the previous ones. This means that the pump is less likely to get blocked, and when it dies build up gunk (usually fur or bioslime) its flow won’t be impacted so much, or as fast. Their are also guides on the bottom letting you know where the pump goes. And unlike most brands, the output of the pump isn’t off center, it’s just about right in the middle, which means you’ll never place the output in the wrong way (for example, the pumps of previous fountains had the output shifted to the right, so if you rotated the pump in any other direction, it wouldn’t go up the fountains tube.) A small yet helpful design change like that just makes the cleaning even easier.So far, I’ve had one Catit fountain I bought at the store, and no bioslime has accumulated even after two weeks. Bioslime usually appeared in other fountains after a week or less, I’d assume due to the weaker flow allowing it to settle on the surfaces, and due to the carbon only filter.I ordered two more Catit fountains through Amazon, and the only issue is that one fountain didn’t come with the yellow middle piece. Not sure how it happened, but it worked out since the cat I’m using it for like to drink from the middle output anyways.Two more neat things is 1. The clear plastic window that shows you how much water is in there. This is why I decided to try this fountain in the first place, it was such a neat design improvement, and it wasn’t all clear like some water fountains (which the excess light coming in from the all clear plastic can lead to algae growth) you have to look closely, at least on the non-led one, but you can usually tell by the drops of water that appear inside the window when the water level gets low. No need to dissemble the fountain, and you can see before it gets loud when it needs water. Another thing, this filter doesn’t get loud even when it gets low. I’d assume it’d get loud if it had no water, but you’d be able to catch it before that happens with the window. The low noise is such a relief, as with three of these I don’t always get the chance to refill them in a timely manner. The second neat thing is the filter replacements. Besides the two filter media’s, it’s got a hard plastic bottom, that just feels more study than the typical filter floss on a support structure that most filters use. I also find that I can rinse the filter since it’s so sturdy, and doesn’t get filthy like the others. I bought replacements, a pack of 5, for a good price in my opinion considering the quality of the filters, but I wonder when I’ll actually need to use them.One thing to note about carbon, it has a life span, something owning fish tanks has lead me to find. You’ll want to change the filters monthly just because of this, as when carbon reaches its end of its lifespan, it will not only stop filtering, but it’ll release some of what it’s filtered.Another thing to say, as if this isn’t an essay already, is that with our four cats of varying shapes and sizes, they all love these fountains. The water level actually drops faster than any other fountain I’ve had, showing that they are drinking more as well! With one cat having renal problems, this is such a relief. Drinking more prevents renal issues from occurring, like for our three younger cats, and prevents them from worsening, like for our old cat with renal problems.If you have a cat who has never drank from a fountain before, they’ll learn quick, but don’t be surprised if they seem taken a back at first. Most cats are used to water in a bowl because it’s what most people use, but flowing water is far more appealing to them once they realize it’s just water.Anyways, great water fountain! If anything happens over time that’s worth noting, I’ll be sure to update this review. But having the filter for over two weeks now, and this time mark usually being the time for poor design choices to reveal themselves, I’m pretty sure this a great filter.Oh, promise this is the last thing. For those who are always hunting for Made in USA products... the unfortunate news is that even after hours of searching I have yet to find any that fit the bill. The good news is that these fountains are made in Malaysia. The bad news is that the replacement filters are made in China... but I’ll take what I can get at this point.Okay, wait, seriously this is the last thing. The only thing I have not tested it how these stand up to machine washing, so I’ll be sure to update when I do that with the results.

I have four cats. I really want to like this, but thus far, only one of my four cats will use this. It has been a little over two weeks. Here is my experience with it thus far.Day 1 - The fountain itself is easy to to put together and easy to clean. It's not loud at all. To the people who are complaining about noise, you probably got a bad pump. All I can hear is some water trickling. I set it up after cleaning it, and 2 of my four cats sniff it and walk away.Day 2 - Still haven't seen a cat drink out of it.Day 3 - I think that maybe they drink out of it when I'm not looking or listening, so I set up a game cam across from it. I'm hoping to catch them drinking.Day 4-8 - Game cam captures many pictures of the cats giving the fountain a wide berth as they walk by, but not a single drink. I don't bother to set it back up.Day 10 - I hear the telltale mlem mlem mlem of a cat drinking! I walk in to the room slowly, and there's my dumbest cat, drinking away! I consider for a moment that maybe I don't give her enough credit, and maybe she's smarter than I thought. She the proceeds to lick the side of the fountain, the wall next to the fountain and then the floor by the fountain. Never mind. I decide to clean the fountain since I actually have a cat drinking out of it. Aside from some charcoal from the filter that has found its way to the bottom of the bucket, the fountain is clean. I wipe it out and replace the water anyway. Cleaning it remains barely any more difficult than cleaning a cat's water bowl.Day 11-16 - Dumb cat continues drinking out of it. My furry cat sniffs it occasionally, but she has yet to drink. My chill cat stares at it, but won't drink and my psycho cat has yet to go in the room since I turned the fountain on. Dumb cat often has a face full of water because she just kind of shoves her whole head in the fountain to drink.Day 26 - Psycho cat walks in the room with the fountain, climbs on top of it, and drinks! I'm very glad that psycho cat is tiny. If chill cat (A great big tomcat) or furry cat (a Maine coon) try this, problems will ensue.Day 31 - Chill cat and Furry cat both drink! Luckily, my two huge cats gingerly mlem up water without even bumping up against the reservoir bucket. If either of my big cats get Psycho cat's idea and climb on this fountain, water is going everyone. Psycho is maybe 8 pounds. Chill is around 18 and Furry is a Maine Coon.I will update in the future if anything anything changes. Personally, I have had no problems with it thus far, but only one of my four cats will use it, so I can't really give it a glowing review. I have tried everything from putting it right next to their usual water bowl to pretending to drink out of it while my cats watch. Nothing has worked. I think one of the problems is the fact that no standing water exists in the fountain. I think three of my cats might need an intermediate fountain that has both moving and standing water to train them to use this thing. All of my cats are between 3 and 6 years old by the way.As of the 4/21, two of my four cats use it. I will keep this updated as time goes on. The fountain works fine, but it gets noisy when the water level drops. That's a good time to clean it!As of 4/28, all of my cats use it. I have raised my review to 4 stars. It certainly isn't perfect, but it good enough for now. After a month, everything still works just fine. The pump is only noisy when the water level gets low. The only way to tell that the water is low, is by either taking off the top and looking or the pump noise. If the water level is very low, you will hear water splashing all the way from the top into the water on the bottom. I clean it every time I change the water, and cleaning this thing is a breeze. The only issue I have is that cat hair gets stuck in the filter. I suppose that's what a filter is for though. If either of my large cats start climbing on this thing, they are going to knock it over. If you have a large cat that has a tendency to climb on everything, this is probably not for you.

It's really cute and my family and friends have complemented the fountain when they see it. Even though it's plastic, it stays pretty clean thanks to the way it's built. The way it works is that the filter goes underneath the internal green surface under the flower so any water that goes back into the bucket is cat hair and food free. This keeps the motor running smoothly since there is no worry about food/cat hair clogging it up. It does still need to be cleaned periodically though since the usual slime that builds up in any bowl or fountain is still apparent. I've noticed that after a two or so weeks, there appears to be some sort of foam that builds up in the little pool that exists on the side (where the water goes back down). Rinsing off the filter works well enough to remedy that for another few weeks. I only change the filter once it gets to the point where the rate of the water draining is so slow that you can see the water building up to the emergency drain line even though the fountain isn't that full.My cat loves this fountain and drinks from it all the time. You can choose to use just the flat surface so water does a soft flow over the surface being draining back down, making it so a little bubbler occurs that they can drink from, or with the flower, it makes 5 little streams of falling water. The noise level depends on where you put it. I have it in the corner and on tile floor so the noise is a bit louder but not to an annoying degree. It's more of a muted buzzing sound. Out of the corner and on a surface that isn't tile, it's extremely quiet. The water level also determines the loudness of the motor - the less water, the louder it is for obvious reasons.The reason I had bought this fountain was because I noticed my cat was barely drinking any water. At first she was little afraid of it but was also super intrigued and did the usual sniff, back off, sniff, lick, back off dance. After a few minutes she started drinking greedily from it and continues to do so (yay!). I have had other fountains before but I chose this one over other fountains because it was easy to clean and because it promised that it would keep out anything that wasn't water from the pool which meant the water she drank was always guaranteed to be clean and the motor wouldn't clog. This I promise is completely true, as long as you use a filter.The only negative is the filters are a little pricey and third-party filters (like the one I'm currently using) aren't as high quality. The third-party one I bought has it so Instead of the yellow or black area filling up the entire quarter of the circle, it's more like a little square piece that's within that quarter, held together by the plastic underneath and the white filter material on the top.

I already own the plastic CatIt fountain, but find it super annoying to clean weekly. The basin itself is alright since you can get every spot with a sponge, and the flower topper and green/blue part that the water cascades onto before hotting the filter isn't bad either (once you take off the yellow topper piece that blocks you from passing a bottle brush fully through the flower topper), with only a few stubborn spots where the injection mold flashing leaves a rough line that holds on to mildew. That leaves the filter holder which has 8 sections that need to be cleaned - the underside of each of the 8 "slices" has 90 degree inside corners along each side that always take several passes with both the corner of a sponge and a bottle brush - and even then some red mildew usually stays on until I inspect every crevice and get anything that remains. The filter holder seems to have been designed with no regard for ease of cleaning, which is especially frustrating since it's plastic and non dishwasher safe.So, based on looking at both the pictures of the stainless version here and on the CatIt website, in addition to the cleaning instruction videos on the CatIt website as well as the manuals for the fountains I found there, I decided to get the stainless steel version, hoping that the annoying parts to clean would be metal. Unfortunately, none of the aforementioned listing photos, videos, or pictures in the manuals show the stainless steel version disassembled, so I had no idea what was underneath the stainless steel dish. I could only see that there was a stainless steel component, a plastic basin which is identical, and a flower topper, which isn't the most annoying part to clean.I purchased the stainless steel version hoping that the stainless part would replace the hard to clean filter holder - this is not the case! The stainless dish effectively replaces the green/blue piece that goes between the flower topper and the filter holder. It's only purpose seems to be to provide an intermediate level for water to flow on and off of. It's shaped like an illustration of a black hole and has no crevices or hard to clean areas if you have a bottle brush for the inside of the tube and a sponge for the outer surfaces - and underneath the stainless dish is the same old filter holder with all its hard to clean crevices! The only extremely slight improvement is that the plastic is white on this version, so any red or black mold would be easier to see - whereas the green plastic on my current one is dark enough that I need a bright light to look up close to see if each of the crevices is clean. I've highlighted in a picture of the underside the stubborn spots that take multiple rounds of scrubbing with sponge, bottle brush, rinsing, and double checking under a bright light before repeating until all the mildew is gone.All in all, if you're looking at the stainless version because you want something easier to clean or more sanitary, you could achieve the same effect on the plastic version just by cutting off the top of the piece in between the flower topper and the filter holder. The stainless alternative even has a plastic tube in the middle where it inserts into the middle of the fountain so it's not like you would be missing out on that either. The only thing the stainless version gets you is a metal replacement for one of the easiest to clean pieces of the fountain, and one that isn't even necessary.You would think by now they would have made a metal version of this fountain where you can remove the pump for manual cleaning and chuck the rest of the pieces in the dishwasher. And don't get me wrong, the plastic version is perfectly serviceable, but the stainless version is just not worth it.

Like most people looking at this product, I was concerned that my cat wasn’t drinking enough water, he would always wait till I fed him wet food and I noticed he started to ask for wet food more often.After a little bit of watching him I noticed he wasn’t drinking his water as much as he should be, so I decided something was gonna change and it wasn’t gonna be a more wet food my 800 pound cat situation.I was deciding between this fountain and the other one that doesn’t light up but I’m glad I went with this one, it looks pretty neat and I like that I can’t see the water level in the dark.It isn’t noisy but if it gets low on water you will hear the water splashes, it’s still pretty quiet even then but when full it’s completely silent.Assembly was very easy, the instructions are in the box but it’s pretty self explanatory. Pump was already in the container and threaded through the back, I still took it apart to clean it but that was a nice touch.In less than 1 day of the water being there he drank, of course I had to show him it wasn’t a vacuum or some sort of spray gun monster... but after about 15 minutes of me being around it and showing him it wasn’t scary he was fine.He drinks a lot more which was the point of all this, I highly recommend it, as cats need to drink water pretty often to prevent illness and some if not most cats dislike standing water.If the product doesn’t make it past one year I will be back to update this comment, as I did notice some people complain about that, but my hopes are high!Edit: I recently took the filter out because the water I was giving him was filtered already but I noticed when the water get a little less than halfway down the splashing noise is loud, I recommend either using the filter or maybe cutting it out clean it well and leave it in.. idk (maybe) if it’s full with no filter you can hardly hear it, it should be full anyways.(Edit again year 2 same fountain)This fountain is absolutely amazing, it’s still working I clean the fountain about once a month as it gets dirty.

The product itself is wonderful. Cute, easy to clean and change the filter. However being cats my girls drank from it for two days and decided it was the work of the devil and now prefer to drink out of flowerpots in the catio. Cats!
