LaBrinx Designs Extra Large Wide Hanging Turtle Ramp - Aquatic Reptile Basking Platform

First off... there are NO suction cups with this product. I spoke directly with the manufacturer. They don't even make them for this stand, even though it is in the description. I had to buy and entirely new screen top for our 40gal tank to accommodate the way this basking platform is supported...but it was worth it. Our red eared slider will be turning 5 this July. She is a healthy and well loved turtle. The other floating basking platforms we had gotten in the past were no longer able to support her size. We had started with a small and had made it all the way to the XL size of a popular brand that suction cups, but then floats on the water. She was not able to be 100% out of the water any longer. Part of her was always still under due to her weight. This basking platform has changed her life!!! The way it attaches to the tank makes it only able to attach on one of the "short" sides, but we are still able to have her filtered water output in place and she can still move all her fake plants around the way she likes to do for play. It is also nice that she can swim under the platform and have a "secret " place. It took almost 4 days for her to go onto the platform on her own without being tempted with food. I think she felt very exposed so far out of the water... but she has adjusted and spent the entire day stretching out her legs and soaking up the heat from her lamp. It made me happy to see how happy she is! There is no grip tape on this platform, nor does it come with any. The ramp has ridges cut into it that she can easily go up. She does do a pretty quick slide down when she goes back into the water. Very happy with this platform, even though the description was different than what we got. And love that all the parts that touch water are plastic. No fear of metal deterioration.

I like this product quite a bit. It was easy to assemble and has worked well. Our turtle has a much easier time climbing up on it compared to his old basking spot. However, I encourage anyone using this to address one safety issue that just came up with our turtle. The vertical supports have a number of holes that are used to adjust the height of the platform. Unused holes remain open under the water. Our turtle, a male red-eared slider, got one of his claws caught in one of the holes and was unable to free himself. Luckily I found him in time and was able to get him free. I recommend covering or plugging those holes somehow. Many water turtles, especially males, have long nails on their front limbs. Since I needed a quick fix, I used some leftover 3/4" tubing from the tank's canister filter. I split it lengthwise then cut it to length. I then wrapped the split tubing around the holes that were exposed underwater. It seems to be holding on well to the supports. You could also use an aquarium safe silicone to plug the holes, and when weather permits I will keep the turtle outside for a couple of days while I do this. Other than this, it's a good product and we will be ordering the larger size for our older water turtle soon. I'll just be plugging the holes before it goes in this time.

I have a 40 gallon breeder and this XL basking area is perfect in every sense. The dimensions are just right, though I will caution you that you’ll need to play with it a little to get it inside the tank when putting the pieces together. I struggled in doing so at first, but once I figured out how I wanted it (level wise), the reward far exceeded all the time I spent assembling it. The new ramp model is lovely. I love the grip and sturdiness of it. It has a durable feel to it that immediately drew me in, which, to be honest, was one of the reasons I chose this brand. I love the looks of the platform as well. It sits pretty in the tank and allows my turtle to have more room to swim. You can tell this design was carefully thought of and made. My turtle loves it too! I put it all together yesterday after carefully disinfecting it and today was the first time I got to enjoy seeing her basking (since having her.) (I’ve only had her for about a week *happy tears* :’). I had to get her the best and this basking platform is it for us. Pardon the dust. Feeple 's tank is due for a good cleaning. 1. Yay- Perfect size fit for my narrow 50 gallon tank. It's only 14" wide so it's an odd one. Every other platform I found online was either way too big or way too small or or wouldn't work with a tank that has a lipped edge. This one does & it's why I am keeping it. 2. Boo- The hanging clips fit perfect over a lipped thick tank top. Just be careful, the slightest wrong movement when attaching and the plastic will snap. I had to super glue mine back together. The corners of the hook part come together to make a thin corner that isn't very strong. 3. Yay- can hold a good amount of weight. No issues there! 4. Boo- The angle of the ramp is too steep. My turtle often falls off & flips over when trying to climb onto it. I put a stone under the edge of the ramp to help give him some better footing. He still struggles sometimes but usually does ok. 5. Yay- Plenty of room for him to bask. 6. Yay- nice & sturdy. 7. Yay- can be positioned in different ways to accommodate your set up. Overall, If they made the hook corners stronger & changed the incline of the ramp, this would be a 5 star item.

It is a great sturdy ramp. It did arrive with one of the supports broken where it hooks on the tank, but the company was kind enough to send another so all is good. Sure it happened in shipping. We did have to modify it a bit because it did not fit in our 75 gallon tank (be sure to measure, we didn’t) by about 1/2”. Notice in the pic we cut the length of the supports and attached them on the inside of the ramp instead of the outside. Worked great. We used the parts from the old ramp to make sides and a cover on top both for the light and so our 11” red ear sliding turtle can’t climb out. This is the ramp you want to buy. The old ramp was held together by zipties and, as a result, both the zipties and plastic grating on the ramp kept breaking because she is such a heavy turtle. Having a solid ramp will help tremendously and keep us from continuously having to figure out how to repair it.

First day I received this item, the ramp wasn’t properly bonded with the base of the platform. I had to crazy glue the corner of the ramp to stop it from fully breaking apart. Installing the hooks was fairly easy. I just wish they supplied extra plastic screws. I already had one screw wear down as I attempted to screw in place. Thankfully the hooks have two holes to screw in so one of my hooks are supported with just one plastic screw. After a week or two, the black tape on top of the platform began peeling off as the adhesive glue wore off. I had to remove the tape entirely because it was unattractive in the water with all these coiled worn down pieces of tape hanging loosely off the platform. After removing the tape, my turtle could climb up the ramp because it he couldn’t get any traction up the ramp, so I ended up drilling holes into the ramp and installing thin sticks to act as steps for my turtle to climb up. Overall, it’s a nice ramp for its price. Sturdy but the details are a bit faulty. If you don’t mind being a MacGyver and getting creative with repairs the. It’s a great buy.

Best turtle ramp ever!

Practically perfect in every way. Much better than the suction cup ramps and floating ramps that are out there, as they all sink when the weight of a fully-grown red-eared slider comes on. I definitely would buy this again if outfitting a standard glass aquarium. This just about fits in a 40-gallon wide or 75-gallon glass aquarium. I say, "just about" because once I had it assembled, the screws prevented the dock from going into the aquarium by hitting the black edging plastic along the top of the tank. Thankfully the tank plastic had just enough give that I could pop the screws around it without breaking it. The instructions were pretty basic and the ramp was pretty easy to put together. I will say, though, that it would have been helpful to mention that the "flat" (it's nearly flat and by design isn't 100% flush when screwed in finger-tight) part of the screw should be facing out, as there is no way the dock gets into the tank if the long part of the screw butts up against the black tank top liner. All that being said, I am still extremely satisfied with my purchase. Also, I had been looking for this ramp and kept getting redirected back to the small one, and any larger ones were showing out of stock, and when I contacted LaBrinx directly through their website, they responded very promptly and helpfully with direct links to the in-stock product page. Now, if I could just get my turtle to sit still on the ramp when she sees me coming with a camera, I would add a picture. But alas, they call them "sliders" for a reason.

Easy to set up. Seems pretty solid. Would like it if the sides where a dark colour, our turtles run into the side of it when startled

Muy buen producto, estuve buscando mucho tiempo hasta que encontré esta zona seca. Está caro pero creo vale la pena porque tiene buena calidad, queda bastante firme y se ve que va a aguantar el trato brusco de la tortuga. Le queda un poco justa, mide unos 20 cms de caparazón, pero para el espacio que tengo en la pecera está bien. La rampa tiene buena tracción para que suba y no se lastime. Hay algunos bordes que podrían estar más suaves para no arriesgar que se lastime pero no es tan grave.

Best one I have ever had fits on square or oval tank like we have turtle never happier !!!!!

Excellent platform. Turtles can easily climb up the ramp. Allows them to get fully out of the water and sturdy enough to hold my two fully grown red eared sliders (when they climb on top of each other)

This is the most practical turtle basking platform I have ever tried. Winnie loves it.
