Downton Abbey TV Series Follow-up
I have watched all episodes in the Downton Abbey TV Series and this movie was an additional small chapter in the Crawley family history. It mostly involves the visit by King George V and Queen Mary and the activities of the Crawley family and the downstairs staff to prepare for and successfully carry out the event. There were a few other storylines that were expanded on from the original TV series and given more closure. The inside and outside scenes were beautiful as were the costumes. I enjoyed the script, the acting, and it was good to see so many of the original characters again. The addition of having the King and Queen visiting made the story very interesting. I enjoyed the movie very much.

Continues the Downton Abbey storyline very well.
Arrived just in time for Christmas; watched it Xmas Day. Blu ray version excellent viewing. Storyline continues about 5 years after series ended - Julian's writing as always is crafted exactly right. Wonderful depiction of 1925 timeline. My husband and I enjoyed the movie very much, having watched the series from the beginning (we have the set on DVD).Recommend it to all who are Downton Abbey followers. Hope there is another movie coming soon !

True to Form
The movie is a brand new, stand alone story, with all the remaining cast members from the original series involved... with all their quirkiness. If you loved the series you'll love the movie. The Bonus Feature - a review romp thru the whole series and the departed characters is very good - watch it first to jog your memory on who's who and who's gone and set yourself up for the movie. Great!

Nice rounding out of the series. Better ending than the series ending
If you watched the series, you should buy this. You see everyone again. There is a little tension. While not nearly as bad as the series in terms of contrived endings, it is a little bit too tidy, but at least one of those nice endings is truly nice (and not too neat).
