Whats the best way to apply this? Dirt and grime seems to be sticking to the chain.

Wipe off as much dirt and grime as you can with a rag, or use a chain cleaner with a solvent. Then, apply a few drops to the chain at one of the back cogs while working the pedals. Don't apply too much oil, or dirt and grit will stick to the excess oil.
