Beefy knife
This is one beast of a knife. Its solid, great choice of metal, heavy duty, extremely sharp, fits comfortably in the hand, very easy to open and close with one hand, and with the tri ad locking system you dont ever have to worry about it accidentally closing. If I had to choose one pocket knife save my life with this would be my number one choice. The only thing more trustworthy for a combat knife is a fixed blade but as far as pocket knives go this one reigns supreme. The only thing to keep in mind is it is a big knife button if youre wanting an edc that you may or may not have to rely on one day then you definitely dont want a dainty one

Just absolutely excellent
A great knife. Heavy and thick, very strong blade with rock solid lock up. It is a lot to have in the pocket but this is a real significant knife. It's an amazing design. The steel is good. The grip is full size so you can get a lot of leverage on your cuts. Truly one of the few truly multi purpose knives out there. Very well built and finished. When you consider that it can do about anything the larger fixed blade SR1 can do and stilll be carried as an unobtrusive clip knife - then this knife is in a class of it's own based solely on that.

Greatest folder, and a clip solution
As a collector (probably like you) I have tons of knives. This is the greatest thing I've seen in a folder. See JoeX's torture / destruction video review online, as mentioned by another reviewer. Everyone comments on the clip problem. (Unbendable and unusable). You can replace it, or try the washer method, or try sanding down a valley into the handle where the clip touches. I found another solution, just on a hunch. I pried a space CAREFULLY by lifting the clip and put in one, then two, then three pennies. I left them for 2 or 3 weeks. It had the proper effect and I didn't think it would work given my first grade metalurgy knowledge, but it did work. It may work for you. Regardless, this is an incredible value for the money. And again, See Joe X's destruction video review!

Good Knife After One Small Modification
Cold Steel SR1 Lite: Pros: Fit and finish on this knife are excellent. 4” Blade is strong and sturdy – 5mm thick at top of blade Blade locks up securely with no wobble Sharp enough out of the box to slice paper (see attached photo) Handle provides secure grip Manufactured in Taiwan rather than China Con: Clip has no flexibility, rendering it useless as is, but a small modification makes it work for me Solution: Since the clip is made from rigid steel, I could not get it to clip on the leg pocket of my Carhartt pants. After placing a small washer under the middle (lower) screw of the clip (see attached photo), this angled the clip up just enough that it now has just the right amount of tension on the seam at the top of my leg pocket. A slight amount of push gets the clip over the top seam of the pocket and then has no pressure on the main fabric of the pocket, so it should not cause undo wear on the fabric. I need not worry about the knife falling out of my pocket, should I become inverted, because it won’t go back over the top seam without my tugging on it a bit to get it out. I wanted to use a (properly flexible) clip from another knife, but none had holes that corresponded to the holes on the SR1 Lite, so drilling and tapping would have been required. Therefore, the addition of the washer was the simplest fix. In the other attached photo the SR1 Lite is next to my 3-1/2” Kershaw, which has been my EDC for about ten years now. I got the SR1 Lite because I wanted something a bit larger for the heavier cutting jobs at work and at home. I didn’t get the more expensive SR1 because of the spring assisted close, which I thought unnecessary and unsafe. The SR1 Lite supposedly has cheaper handle material, but I am completely satisfied with it, as it has a firmer grip than many of the other knives. The SR1 Lite is now my EDC and I think it’s a great knife for the price. Note: The website listed the blade as being 8Cr13MoV steel, but my blade is stamped 8Cr14MoV. I am no metallurgist, but from what I read online that means it has a bit more chromium, meaning a bit better corrosion resistance, but otherwise very similar. My Kershaw is 8Cr13MoV steel, and I’ve been quite happy with it. UPDATE: After using this knife for three months, I absolutely LOVE it! It easily handles the heavy jobs at work and at home, that all my previous, smaller knives, struggled with. After using it to slice through thick canvas, cut heavy plastic straps on pallets, and other similar jobs, it still has a sharp enough edge to easily open envelopes (I have not yet had to sharpen it). Despite it's size, it's light enough that I tend to forget it's in my leg pocket. If it came with a good clip that I didn't need to modify, it would definitely be a five star knife.

Monster knife that feels like a fixed blade and fills your pocket
When I considered the concept of a "pocket knife," I wasn't expecting a knife that actually filled my pocket! This thing is H-U-G-E!!! It measures 5.5" long by 1.5" wide closed, opening to 9.5" and weighing in at a whopping 7 oz! Like all Cold Steel knives, it arrived razor sharp (see paper-cutting video). It's a massive knife all the way around, with the blade spine measuring 5MM in thickness. I don't typically recommend folding knives as survival knives, but this thing is meaty and beefy, and its 5mm, 90-degree spine worked perfectly, throwing plenty of sparks from my Ferro rod. At sub $40, this knife is well worth the money if you like a large-format folder that can act as a survival knife in a pinch. And if you're concerned about the knife's strength and structural integrity, check out Joe X's folding knife destruction test. This knife outlasted the other 30 or so he put through the torture testing. It withstood abuse that knives triple its price could not withstand! ----- SPECS: 8Cr14MoV stainless steel, Griv-Ex handle, 4" Clip-point Blade, 6.9 oz. Made in Taiwan

Indestructible
This is an indestructible knife; it came sharp and keeps its edge well. It fits perfectly into my hand, and I use it for everything, and I abuse it because it has utility for everything I poke, prod, pry, jam, cut, and still it remains a perfect knife the action is smooth, and I have never had any problems with it. Another plus is the quality for the price. If you work hard and want a good knife buy this one.

Sturdy, strong and beautiful
Excellent knife. Comfortable and sturdy to the touch. With grip that will not slip! This glorious piece of craftsmanship is not to play around with. The Tri-Ad lock is a perfect addition to an already perfect knife. Built to last. Very easy to open, the closing process should be done with care, because this blade is SHARP. Whether you're using this knife for tactical purposes, fishing, EDC.. it doesn't matter- it'll function all ways. I have a fairly big hand, so the fit is just right for me. But for someone with an "average-sized" hand, this knife will look a little bulky. But that's how I like it! As for the clip attached to it, unless you want to damage your pockets, I'd suggest vigorously smoothing out the area with some gritted sandpaper. Thank me later. Aside from that one small thing, the knife is A1.

Built like a tank. Excellent quality. Beautiful but not bulky, fits pocket well.
The SR1 LITE is a tank. It has great ergonomics, economics and elegance. It's elegance is in its excellent quality control. Built like a bulwark, it has the superior strength of the Triad Lock. Highly recommended for heavy use.. Even the clip is extra strong. The clip can be tuned by inserting a screwdriver under the contact point. Some rough edges of the handle under the contact point can thus be smoothed out. After tuning, the extra strong clip slides easily over your jeans pocket. This knife has all pros, no cons. A truly 5 star knife, my favorite!

Stabiles Arbeitstier
Was soll ich sagen .

Brutal stabil!
Hallo.

Sturdy folder, light on pocket
Strong build, thick blade, would trust it for survival situations involving using it as a tool and not just as a cutting knife. Not quite suitable for daily carry due to size, weight and blade thickness. I personally chose it as a compact alternative to my outdoors solid fixed blade - can be attached to a belt or put in a pocket without drawing attention. My remarks are minor - a practically useless belt clip out of the box (needs to be bent a little and the handle surface has to be polished), the handle itself is not ergonomic. Also the top surface of the rocker is ground (similar to the back of the blade) and its sharp corners are not very pleasant when pressing to fold the knife.
