Excellent functionality for the price
I'm using this hub to manage connections to three 4-bay (Mediasonic USB3.1Gen2 HFR7-SU31CH) external storage boxes running 4x 8TB WD Red 5400RPM drive in RAID 0 (32TB each) with USB 3.1G2 connections. Throughput to one box at a time runs about 300-380MBps sustained throughput for a transfer cue of 100GB-1TB of files. Throughput drops to about 220-300MBps to each box when feeding two external boxes from two transfer cues at the same time, and 160-240MBps each when feeding three boxes at once from three cues. The hub is connected to USB-C 3.1G2 port on the PC with a 1M length USB-C extension cable, and the boxes are connect to the hub with 1M USB-C cables. Signal loss does happen occasionally but rarely, and a click to retry restarts the transfers at the point where the throughput was interrupted. All totaled, this is decent data throughput for such a modest price.

Fully Compatible, Reliable, and Performant Hub for M1 Macbook Air
My computer:2020 M1 Macbook Air base modelHow I use this hub:USB A #1: 4-port Anker USB 3.0 Hub Hub Port 1: USB 3 to SATA + Samsung 850 1TB (Time Machine backup) Hub Port 2: flash drive Hub Port 3: webcam Hub Port 4: lightning cable (iPhone sync) (not enough power to charge)USB A #2: USB 3 to ethernet adapterUSB C #1: Samsung T5 2TBUSB C #1: USB C adapter + USB 3 Displaylink adapterLikes-plug and play on MacOS Big Sur-no disconnects-no quirks or strange workarounds-high performance (don't notice any difference between standalone and hub)Dislikes-nothingThoughtsMy likes are ranked in order of importance. The hub needs to be compatible with my computer and operating system. It also needs to be reliable and not introduce problems of its own. Finally it should have high data transfer speeds because it is USB 3.1 Gen 2. I am happy to report that this hub has been problem-free and highly performant since day one, even with 7 devices connected to it at all times.Things you should know-if you're going to connect 7 devices to this hub, don't expect to charge anything through it. It's going to be impractically slow.-the USB-C ports do not support display adapters. You'll need a Displaylink adapter (Cable Matters Model 202049) like the one I'm using or plug directly into the computer's USB-C port.

bandwidth numbers are hype
let me say that this vendor is not alone in hyping the speed of their hubs even though it was twice as expensive as the other two. this is the 3rd one i've purchased since getting a mac mini m1 that slows down connected drives by approximately 30%.i have a sandisk extreme ssd capable of 1050mb/s and when plugged straight into a thunderbolt port yields a fantastic speed of near 900mb/s measured with blackmagic speed test. the same drive plugged into this hub which is plugged into the thunderbolt port won't go above 600mb/s. i despair if i'm going to have a specific thunderbolt hub capable of 20 or 40gb/s in order to realize the full speed of the drive because those are nearly as expensive as a 2tb ssd drive.for now the only solution i can see since i have a 2nd sandisk extreme coming (2tb) is to use the only two ports for the two drives and use a usb-a adapter for the hub although that seems to be a waste of money considering the usb-a v3.1 gen 2 ports are capable of 10gb/s, but the hub has proven to be incapable of that speed.oh, and why does amazon ask me to rate durability and sturdiness--i've had it like 10 minutes. :)/guy

Lives up to its claim. Full 10 Gbps speed.
Pros:- Fully supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 @ 10Gbps- Small, portable form factor with long cable- Works exactly as intended and advertisedCons:- All 3 USB ports (2x A, 1x C) are on the same side. Put one of the A ports on the opposite side if the engineering allows for it to accommodate larger USB devices, like smart card readers.I am very happy with this purchase. There was only 1 review, so I was hesitant, but it fit my needs exactly. My laptop has 1x USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port (10Gbps) that I could either have my external NVMe drive (also 10Gbps) plugged into, OR my USB-C hub which also had my Ethernet adapter. This hub allows me to combine Ethernet and USB-C, while still maintaining my beloved 10Gbps speed. The image shows the CrystalDiskMark comparison of the drive plugged into the hub versus directly into the laptop. What I am unable to test is how the hub would work if I had all 3 USB ports in use. I would imagine there would be some degradation but that is not a situation I'll have to worry about. On a side note, while looking at the packaging, the logo for StarTech is "Hard to find, made easy" and I must agree, that is quite accurate. I searched high and low on Amazon looking for a USB-C hub that had both Ethernet and USB-C Data @ 10Gbps, and the options are nearly non-existent. There was one runner up that I remember comparing this with but it was almost twice as expensive. Kudos, StarTech.

accessory means extra carry and forgetting
Works as advertised has ports that function but limited diversity, means need for another with more variability.

Unpowered USB 3.1 Gen2 (10 Gb/s = 1.2 GB/s) Hub
Using an eSATA SSD in an unpowered enclosure, the transfers when this hub is plugged into the Thunderbolt port of a Mac Mini 2018 a bit less than 10% faster than when the hub is plugged into the USB 3.0 port. The expectation was about 20% (600 versus 500 MB/s). Using an ADATA SE800 1TB IP68 Rugged for reading with the hub plugged into the Thunderbolt port, the Adata hangs after a transfer of a few GB, probably due to lack of power or possibly due to the increase in effective cable length. The SD card reader works well. Conclusion: probably not a good choice for 1000 MB/s unpowered SSDs. It is significantly more expensive than USB 3.0 HUBs while providing little performnce improvement. Probably a powered TB3 or 4 HUB is a better choice if the goal is high speed like 1000 MB/s SSDs.

Good however USB-C display did not work with it.
It should specifically mention that it does not support a USB-C display. Saying "Supporting SSD/thumb drives, data storage, keyboards, mice, web cams, headsets" is not enough and is not a satisfactory description. In my opinion since it does not support a USB-C display it is not worth 70$ CAD

Consigliato.

speed as advertized, 3 useful ports thought
1. The box I received is not sealed with tape. Hard to know if it is an open box. No document or warranty card inside.2. speed is fine for the 3 USBA ports. the USBC and PD port is the same one so you can't use it for data transferring if used for charging.3. heat control is bad.4. Not worth ~ 100 dollars in my opinion.
