Gorgeous, Vibrant Color That Lasts and Keeps Hair Soft
I have been using Lime Crime Unicorn Hair for over 3 years now and it has never disappointed me. The Chocolate Cherry shade is such a beautiful color that looks vibrant and rich right after coloring. The color payoff is excellent and it always leaves my hair looking bold and shiny. I’ve also tried Genie, Sea Witch, and Valentine, and every shade has turned out stunning. One of my favorite things about this dye is the scent. The sugary citrus vanilla fragrance makes the application process so much more enjoyable. It doesn’t smell harsh like other dyes, which matches perfectly with how gentle it is on my hair. After rinsing, my hair always feels soft and conditioned rather than dry or damaged, and I’ve never experienced breakage from using it. The dye is very easy to apply at home, whether with a brush or just gloved hands, and it washes out of my shower without leaving any stains. The color is long-lasting too. I usually go about 2 months before I need to redye, and even then it fades gradually into a softer version of the shade instead of looking patchy. Overall, this is hands-down the best semi-permanent dye I’ve ever used. The colors are vibrant, the scent is amazing, it’s easy to use, and it always leaves my hair in great condition. Absolutely worth the money for the quality and results. If I could rate it higher than 5 stars, I would.

Such pretty color!!
This hair color is awesome, hands down. I've got dark blonde/light brown hair, and I've colored it in the past but I've always done more natural colors (reds, and one foray with black) since school and work always had strict dress code requirements for no non-natural hair colors. But life is too short and the world kinda just sucks all around right now, so why not do something fun, you know? So, I got some colors that I like (Genie and Sea Witch, since both were on sale at the time) and set out with a plan: go for one of those peek-a-boo hair styles and dye the under layers a color and leave the top layers natural. Since I've never bleached my hair before, I figured doing this if it messed up then at least I could potentially hide it better than if I did my whole head. First impressions, this stuff smells so nice. It's super thick as well. We used maybe 1/3 of a jar for the underside of my hair, so while the price might be a bit much at first, for me it'll last for a bit, which is nice. After getting the dye on, we pulled my hair into a shower cap and I let it sit for about, I think maybe 2 or 3 hours before rinsing it out with cold water. Was surprised that there didn't seem to be a whole ton of color coming off when rinsing it out, I'm used to seeing a lot of color bleed off when I used to go red, and was fully prepared for my shower to look like I'd murdered a certain purple dinosaur, but there weren't any color stains left behind that I could see. I followed the rinsing with one of those Ion color sealing packets I got from the local Sally Beauty supply, since I read people mention the semi permanent colors tend to fade really quick. Genie is super vibrant on light blonde hair, like I knew it would be bright but seeing it on your own hair is something else entirely. Since it's basically a conditioner with a lot of dye in it, it leaves your hair so nice and silky soft. So far it's been 3 weeks since we did the color, and I wash my hair every other day since it tends to get stupidly greasy and nasty if I try to push it longer, and dry shampoos never seem to work well for me, so I had already resigned to expect the color to maybe stay nice and bright for a couple of weeks before starting to fade. But so far, I don't think it's faded at all yet, it's still so vibrant! I've been using Strawberry Leopard shampoo for the roots of my hair and the L'Oréal dream lengths conditioner for the middle and ends. I never use any heat on my hair, and I always wash it in cold water. Don't know if the color is staying so well because of the methods I use to keep up my hair, or if my hair just likes to soak up and hold color longer or what, but either way I'm loving how it's looking and am already planning out my next idea for adding in the Sea Witch to go along with Genie. 5/5 will definitely buy again.

Lime Crime Unicorn Hair Dye is everything!
I’ve tried so many vivid hair dyes over the years, and this one stands out in the best ways. First off, the color payoff is incredible. It’s super bright, bold, and truly lives up to the “unicorn” name. After rinsing, the color stays vibrant wash after wash instead of fading right away like so many others. What really surprised me is how gentle it feels. My hair doesn’t feel fried, dry, or brittle afterward. Instead, it actually feels soft and conditioned, which makes a huge difference if you dye often. The dye itself has a creamy texture that’s easy to apply evenly, and it smells surprisingly nice too, no harsh chemical scent that makes your eyes water. The shade range is also amazing. Whether you’re going for pastel, neon, or deep jewel tones, there’s something that fits. It’s fun to experiment with mixing shades, too, and they blend beautifully for custom looks. Overall, if you want hair color that’s vivid, long-lasting, and kind to your hair, Lime Crime Unicorn Hair is a game changer. I absolutely love it and won’t use anything else!

Underrated, my favorite hair dye
Genuinely one of the best hair dyes I have ever used. Lasts so long at full vibrancy (2-3 weeks depending how often I wash it) and does not stain. I have gone to bed with wet hair multiple times right after dying it and it has not stained my sheets. It never stains my skin when I dye it. It smells nice and the purple shade specifically looks good over non-bleached hair (mine is naturally a dark strawberry blonde). I have also used the blue dye and that is another winner. It does stain more than the purple but still not nearly as much as other dyes out there. I would absolutely recommend this brand! It's a much better price than Good Dye Young and honestly, after using both, I prefer it.

Certain colors are great
My rating depends on the color. The genie turns out great and lasts a long time but the mermaid barely shows up and the bubble gum didn’t last much either. I highly recommend the darker colors

Great for kids didn’t damage the hair and the color is perfect
Super impressed with this hair dye. I promised my 7 year old since she carried straight A’s all school year she could have purple hair this summer so I looked for a product that was safe for her and that would not damage her hair. This product didn’t only damage her hair but it put back the shine and it’s so much healthier looking. Also I was worried that it wouldn’t work since her hair is a dark brown but we left it in for the max time of two hours before shampooing it out and it is purple. It a darker purple but she is more than ok with it and so am I. I love this product and I would definitely recommend it and I would buy it again. It’s super hard to see in photos we only dyed the bottom half of her hair

So rich!
This purple was outstanding. Stayed really vivid and bright in our kiddos hair. Once they got back to summer camp with a pool, it was all washed out by the end of the week. But without chlorine, it was really impressive!

Just tried it and love it
My daughter wanted just the tip of her hair purple & after reading a bunch of reviews I decided to try this brand based on it being semi permanent, low smell, essentially one step and easy on the hair. Here are my thoughts immediately after dying: -Yes, it will stain EVERYTHING. Bleach works on hard surfaces. If you're gonna be lazy like me and not wear gloves you're gonna get dyed hands. If she'd done her entire head I'd say definitely put an oil barrier on face/neck. - Strong smells give me headaches & my daughter's sensory issues mean there's no way she could deal with the smell of 'normal' hair dye. This has only a light smell and it's not the typical horrible chemical smell. -Consistency is similar to a think hair conditioner, it's nice that it doesn't drip. - It comes in the container it's pictured in, so a brush is helpful for getting it out since you can't just squirt it on your head like bottle dyes, but scooping it out works too. -I really liked that the instructions are printed on the inside of the box so there's no need for extra paper waste. Directions state leave in for 30 mins, longer for a bolder color. My daughter has virgin hair but I wasn't sure if it was light enough to get the color she hoped for. I left the dye in for about 40 mins, put plastic over it while waiting (mostly because after 2 minutes she wanted to rinse it out and all her fidgeting would've had purple everywhere), and hit it with the blow drier just enough to warm it up before rinsing. Not sure if the last 2 steps made any difference, but she loves how it turned out. It's a little darker, but that's due to her natural color & it not being bleached first. Her hair looks amazingly healthy too. I'll definitely get this again when she wants a new color. I'll try to post an update on how well it lasts. We have highly chlorinated & hard city water, so it's pretty harsh on color, but we'll see how it goes.
