absolute hit!
I bought this Magnasonic All-in-One 24MP Film Scanner as a gift, and it was an absolute hit!The person I gifted it to has a large collection of old negatives and slides, and they were thrilled to finally have an easy way to digitize their precious memories. The scanner is extremely easy to use, even for someone who isn't very tech-savvy. The 5" LCD screen is bright and clear, making it simple to preview images before saving. This scanner made a perfect and thoughtful gift, and seeing how happy it made them truly made my day. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a practical, meaningful present!

good product
Worked very well for scanning old 35mm slides, but only designed for horizontal pictures. Verticle pictures are cropped off unless you scan in the horizontal positon and then rotate the scanned pictures 90 degrees with photo editing software. But, you get what you pay for, for the price it is quite adequate for scanning.

Works as a Super8 viewer too
Love this unit. Not only does it make fairly good images from slides (better that me shooting them with my DSLR on a white background) but it's saved me a ton of time as a Super8 film viewer. I'm using a Wolverine Movie Maker Pro for the Super8 film but some of the clips are too sort to view easily. I can quickly zip these clips thru the Magnasonic to see if I want to digitize the whole thing on the Wolverine or just digitize a couple of frames with the Magnasonic for posterity. Highly recommended.

Does a very good job!
Bought this because I have many hundreds of 135 slides (some older than me) and I wanted to convert them all to digital. If I sent these slides out to have someone else convert them for me, it would cost easily over a couple thousand bucks. I purchased the Magnasonic All-in-One 24MP Film Scanner for $119. I'm very pleased with it. Very easy to use. Just plug in the USB cable to the included power adapter (same thing as any USB power adapter for your phone), or directly to your computer. No software needed. Comes with film negative and slide insert trays. The learning curve on this device is easy. When you turn it on, the menu is self explanatory. Just insert the slides into the machine, center the picture, and then hit the scan button, and in about 1 second, the slide is converted into a JPG format picture which is saved in memory. You can add a 128G SD card (not included) for more memory. After your slides are scanned, you can select "Up-load Pictures" (needs to be connected to your computer thru USB), and your computer can access your picture folder just like a USB thumb drive. Copy and paste the pictures where you will. With this, I was able to insert and scan a slide about every 5 seconds. Picture scans are very good quality. Image dimensions are 6000 x 4000. Resolution is 72 dpi. Bit depth is 24. Average JPG file size averages about 4.5 to 5.1 Megabytes per picture. I displayed these on a big screen TV through a HDMI cable, pictures display nice and sharp. I would recommend the Magnasonic All-in-One 24MP Film Scanner to anyone who needs to convert their old slides.

Good scanner, modest learning curve.
I would like to give this scanner a 5 star rating, but there are a number of issues with it that will downgrade it for someone who is fairly picky with their scans.Pro:Very fast, easy to use. Slide the film in and move it from one picture to the next. With a good negative, the scans are crisp and clear. The menu makes it relatively easy to adjust the overall brightness and color tint. The included cleaner makes quick work of any dust particles. With the USB setting, transferring files to the computer for storage is very fast & easyCon:You don't get a full scan, there is always some cropping. If the negative is thin, the lighting can be uneven, brighter on the edges than the center - plus colors are off on the edges. On a thin negative with little detail, the scan is orange, you have to do some fiddling to get decent color. It would be nice to be able to scan directly into the computer.

Does the job it seems.
I finally took it out of the box and started working with it looking at slides. It's fairly intuitive to use. Make sure to format the SD card if there is an SD card error. I was able to easily capture, save, and then upload to my PC the pictures. It seems to have enough sense to know whether pictures were already downloaded and it give the filenames in a numbered sequence. Like your cell phone, it's simply a matter of finding the "DCIM" directory and copying from the SD card to your computer. The resolution is high so keep in mind this will scan every defect of the slide like scratches. Also keep in mind the color of older material.

This thing works
Works as described. I’ve used it a while and it’s been great. It doesn’t help convert negatives to color. You could maybe do the manual colors and get it working but that’s a lot I don’t know. But if you plan to transfer to computer it’s great. It has adjustments in the manual slide holder. Then use the computer to conver and turn the right direction. It has manual direction changers but it’s better to post in computer. This is the one to buy. And buy the slide holders extra for slides. It holds on the right position to center to take the photos. The SD works great and then transfer is easy to computer. Good quality as well. Feels solid. Sturdy and stays where you put it. It also doesn’t bump easy. Easy on and off. Easy to get through the menu. Will make these slides easy to convert. Have thousands to do.Edit. This thing does so much more. The setting is where it’s at. Had to find them but when I got it right it will do a lot of things. No need for external software. Just took me a while to learn the machine. It will convert to negative as well so if ya have slides you can convert. Did the first 1000 slides to negative and back. Before I found the right setting to just project. :) great unit.
