Thermotex Self-Regulating Soil Warming Cable is the ideal way to propagate seeds and cuttings. The cable can be laid into a base of sharp sand and covered with a further 2-3cm of sand. Alternatively the heating cable can be laid directly onto a shelf to form a hot plate and seed trays placed on top. Running the heating cable 8 - 10cm apart will raise the soil temperature to 20°C.

Thought it was OK initially, but it didn`t last.
Dec. `17: Having had two Parasene cables burn out in fairly quick succession, I thought I`d try this. I`ve had it running continuously, via a Parasene thermostat, for eight months, now. So it`s already beaten both of my old cables by a considerable margin. If it`s still working in a year`s time, I`ll give it five!2019: Alas. No five stars. During the second winter it stopped working. Tested thermostat and connecting wires. All OK. Removal of the end stop of the heating cable and testing revealed current was flowing in the wires to the end. I conclude that the variably-conductive plastic is no longer conducting at all. Very disappointing.
