Mikey: Collector's Edition [Blu-ray]

The King of the Killer Kid Genre
Mikey is exactly what you want in a creepy kid pic. One thing that sets it apart from other entries in the sub-genre is they dispense with the whole "are they evil or misunderstood or not the real killer ala Alice, Sweet Alice" and show you up front he's evil in a very self aware way; this lends itself to a kind of Hitchcockian audience participation because you know what the poor people around Mikey don't and that builds the same kind of tension showing a bomb under a table would just over and over again like a gift that keeps on giving. The script is clever enough to wring dark humor out of what would seem like mundane dialogue without the knowledge we have. The actor who plays Mikey nails the roll.If the creepy child/killer kid sub-genre is your horror stomping ground, this needs to be in your collection.

A fun cult classic, now on Blu Ray!
I remember renting the living Hell out of this movie from the local video shop when I was a kid growing up in the 90's. I eventually obtained a VHS copy of this film which I owned throughout my teenage years. I always wanted to upgrade to DVD, although when that era happened, I was surprised to see how out-of-print and expensive this movie had become.Imagine my excitement that this movie was going to be re-released in a brand new HD transfer on Blu Ray, complete with bonus features, for the first time ever!Re-watching it after all of these years, I have to say that it has held up pretty well. While this is no "art-house" movie by any measure, it is loads of fun for those who appreciate schlock films or campy horror/slasher movies from the early 90's. The high definition transfer looks pretty solid, and is certainly a major improvement over the VHS tape that I grew up with. The feature length "making of" documentary is also worth watching for some background and context from behind the scenes. This release also comes with a "collectible mini poster" which is really too small to be considered a "poster", more like a fold-out.In short, it is definitely worth grabbing a copy of this Blu-ray if you have a taste for this particular kind of movie (e.g. "The Bad Seed", "The Good Son"). If you are looking for "Casablanca" or "Citizen Kane", keep looking because this ain't it.

Very Creepy Movie
This film was disturbing, as there are real kids like this in real life, although I doubt that they could get away with this many murders at that age.The kid was clearly a psychopath; not someone with an "attachment disorder" as he really had no remorse and was only able to behave as if he was normal when he needed to gain his victims' trust. It definitely did hold my attention though. As others have said, the plot was predictable, so that is why I only gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.

I would not call this a horror flick because it is not. Maybe a psycho path killer movie. Lol! The acting was done great and it was entertaining. Cleaver kid! Who would of thought.....hate to see him has a teenager. Lol!!

"Mikey : The Slasher Kid!!!"
I remember watching this back years ago. Now I have watched it again. What a great horror slasher film that an innocent kid you can love. He's not that innocent. He's the one that has been planning to kill...again. With great performance and role by Ashley Laurence (Hellraiser, Hellraiser II, Hellraiser III : Hell On Earth & Hellraiser Hellseeker). She was really good as a 4th grade teacher. I love it when Mikey become obsession with a neighbor teenager girl. You'll see how it turned out but the end will shock you. I recommend it if you love horror slasher film.

Corny Fun
Mikey is a little stinker. I accepted early on that this movie wasn't great but it is a lot of fun. At times it seems aware of how stupid it is and that only makes it better. Blank Check would have been a lot better as a sequel to this movie. I wish this movie had been the beginning of a franchise. By part six we learn that Mikey has a condition that prevents him from aging so that he can keep getting a adopted and killing adults who don't know how to move out of the way.

Mikey
I remember reading the tagline for the movie when I was younger and always wanted to see it. This film came out when horror was dead but the movie is pretty good. The trailer shows every kill in this movie, a first for a horror movie. It starts off with little Mikey getting slapped by his mother and he kills his sister (because she didnt stick up for him), his mother, and then his father. Mikey videotaped the killings, which I thought would have come into play later in the film but it doesnt. After the murders, he's adopted by a new family. The film then shows little hints of Mikey being a psycho until the very last part of the film. While the acting was good, I thought the ending just sucked and it probably would have had a sequel if this film did anything at the box office. This is a lost gem in an era where horror films were all but forgotten. I paid 30 for a authentic copy and I see a seller selling one forn only ten bucks, I recommend picking it up. Not a bad movie at all.

Better Than 1993 "The Good Son"
Fast delivery. Good condition. If you enjoyed the 1993 thriller "The Good Son" check this one out. More intense and scarier. Overall a better horror movie.
