SOLID
SOLID TOOL AND MADE IN THE U.S.A. GOT THIS AS A GIFT FOR SOMEONE AND THEH ALSO WERE IMPRESSED. PERFECT ALL AROUND TOOL. FITS NICE IN THE HAND. I GAVE IT 4 STARS BECAUSE I THINK IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SHARPENED PERFECTLY WHEN RECEIVED. ITS HAS AN OK EDGE BUT STILL NEEDED A GOOD SHARPENING.

Great tool!
Well-made tool. Takes a bit of experimentation to learn which blade to use when, but it has helped me quickly clear brush and small saplings with relative ease.FYI: use the "hook" for vines, brambles, thicker weeds, etc.Use the "axe" for thicker saplings and branches that you can get a clear cut through. It acts more like a thick knife than a hatchet, and it will surprise you how easily it cuts through saplings, especially with a diagonal strike.

WARNING: Design flaw - wear gloves when using.
Heavy rain in CA this past year resulting in scores of fallen oak trees and branches at our place. We use this tool to remove small twigs and sprouts before cutting the larger stuff for firewood with a chain saw. There is no guard between the handle and blade to prevent the users hand from slipping forward and being cut by the sharp blade. Recommend wearing gloves and grinding off the sharp edge of the blade for about an inch from the handle.

Two Major Problems
Two Major ProblemsProblem 1: Inadequate Guard on the handle. The cap at the top of the handle is smaller than the handle. The blade ends right at the handle. You need a good set of work gloves to reduce the risk of injury while your hand is on the handle.Problem 2: the method used to secure the handle to the tang is inadequate. It is a wooden handle only. No Guard and No Pommel. Nor is the handle pinned to the tang. The folded end of the tang does stop the handle from sliding off until it fails. For me it worked the first couple of uses then to two separated mid swingUp until the catastrophic failure. I was happy with its overall performance and function.

Crude but it works
Crude but functional, stamped steel and turned hardwood handle. Works well clearing brush but dulls quickly. A bit overpriced for what it is IMO.

Handle is round which some people like, but personally would rather it be a little ...
Wow. well made bill hook. Very impressed with how well the handle is held on by the tang. No sliding or wiggling at all. Handle is round which some people like, but personally would rather it be a little slimmer. And darn does this thing have some weight behind it when u swing it. One swing into a good sized tree goes just about halfway through it without a problem. Could easily cut down smaller trees with this. Great camping tool, definitely will not fail you

Needs redesign.
Flimsy handle and soft metal , not thought through design. The hatchet blade should be at end of blade to give it the leverage and control needed, like any two sided tool double bit axe, pick axe, maddaxe etc.

my wrist hurts
this is probably the worst product I've ever gotten from Amazon. It has a cheap wooden handle with a heavy brush axe head.. I'm a fairly strong man and my wrist hurt after one minute of holding this ergonomic nightmare.. This type of brush ax head needs a longer handle that you can use both hands-on.. The handle is a straight piece of cheap wood rather than an ergonomic design. Since they don't have negative stars and you can't give it a zero*I'm giving it one star and am returning this poorly conceived $40 thing..
