Salad spinner built-to-last
Very nice quality, sturdy, and feels built-to-last. The spinner works smoothly and dries greens quickly, making salad prep effortless. It’s easy to clean and large enough for family meals - overall a great kitchen tool.

A well thought-out salad spinner. Easy to use and works well.
This is a great salad spinner. I use prepackaged salads that say they are washed, but I always get an upset stomach from them. I open the package, take out the inner package of dressing and then dump the solid mixture into the inner basket to be washed with water or a mixture of vinegar and water. The strainer basket is fine enough so that even with chopped salads 99% of the salad will stay within the basket and maybe only two or three little pieces will get stuck in the strainer so not a problem. There is no problem at all putting the top mechanism onto the strainer basket as some people have indicated, it’s quite easy. I am in my 70s and I have no problem operating the spinner so I can’t imagine why people have said they count under the top on the rotating basket. The bottom plastic piece is a sturdy polycarbonate that I think will wear quite well, and it provides a pivot point for the basket to spin on. Oxo even provided a finger slot so you can easily lift the bottom plastic beats out of the container to drain water. Since the spin mechanism is collapsible, it doesn’t take much room to store so I store it in the refrigerator to keep it cold for the next batch of salad. The brake mechanism works fine despite what some reviews have said, but normally I let the basket come to a stop by itself as I am preparing the dressing. After all, you bought it to spin so let it spin. So again-no problem. It is true, however, that the stainless steel bowl is rather thin and a bit flexible. But this does not inhibit the operation of the unit. I think the stainless steel ball is just engineered to be adequate and not add unnecessary steal an extra weight to the product. It is not built like a 1959 Buick Roadmaster, but more like a completely competent Honda Accord. If you make more salad than you can eat in one sitting, I recommend getting a universal, flexible silicone top to put on the stainless steel base to store your salad for the next meal.

Easy to use and clean!
OXO never disappoints. I love the fact that this one is stainless steel because it keeps it from staining or getting scratched. Aesthetically appealing too! Quality is great

Great salad spinner with a few caveats
I’ve had three other salad spinners over the years including the plastic OXO. I was always faced with the same problem, they crack overtime. I bought this one to hopefully be the last salad spinner I buy for a very long time but I’m not sure it is the one. The positives: The size is perfect for washing any and all produce, I like that the stainless steel bowl can double as a salad bowl, very simple to use. The negatives: The stainless steel bowl is thin. I was expecting it to be a little thicker but it’s pretty flimsy. If you have anything inside it make sure you pick it up with both hands. I fear it will warp over time resulting in the same issue I’ve been having with plastic salad spinners. The spinner parts are also a little less quality than what I was expecting for the price. They are all plastic and I am not sure how long the mechanisms will last. Overall it’s still a solid salad spinner and I’m glad I bought it instead of another plastic one. I just hope it holds up.

Excellent salad spinner!
New steel design with plunger instead of pull cord is much sturdier and more effective at spinning the contents. Excellent product design.

Press and Go
This is very sturdy. It feels like a LOT of money, but worth it if you are constantly washing greens like me. I love that you can press the lever and walk away. This is REALLY important for someone with arthritis or other motor issues (you could even press with elbow or foot), but also nice for any busy kitchen. If you balance it correctly, it will spin for a good long time on its own and NOT jump off the counter. I was also able to use it as a spin cycle... I was boiling cheese cloth on the stove to sterilize, and used the salad spinner to remove much of the boiling water before transferring to oven for drying. It worked great, and did not melt. If you have the budget, I recommend this product.

Design changed in 2023 - THIS SPINNER IS VASTLY INFERIOR - Read reviews from 2024 before you buy
This was the third time I have purchased this salad spinner. The previous two worked very well, but the plastic top eventually cracked. Can you purchase a new top separately? You cannot. If you like this spinner a lot, as I did, you must spend another $50 to $60 for a new spinner when the top eventually breaks. You would think that OXO would see that this is a flaw in the design and address it. OXO did change the design, but not for the better. The new spinner design has major flaws: 1. The dimensions are different from previous versions, so the pieces are not interchangeable 2. The steel bowl does not have a spinning bump in the bottom that the basket spins on. Instead, they have included a separate, cheap plastic piece that must be set in the bottom of the steel bowl that the basket spins on. See the photo included. 3. The basket is smaller than the former design and there is a lot of space between it and and the steel bowl, allowing it to pop off the separate plastic piece in the bottom and stop spinning. Repeatedly. 4. The steel bowl is thinner and lighter than in the former spinner, although still adequate.
