Buy 2
My poor baby girl has one ear that gets so dry she can't help but itch it. She finally itched a quarter sized scab below her ear. So I got this to make sure she doesn't reopen it while she heals. She has ear drops, and our place has good humidity, but she was a rescue with several parasites and bugs and her body just never got over it in her left ear. She's now just a stubborn old lady that refuses to give up her spot when the toddler gives her hugs. I say buy 2 because if you have a cat like mine you will need a replacement to put on them when the one goes in the wash. I didn't think ahead, and she reopened her wound within 10 minutes of me putting it in the wash. So order 2. They are fantastic, and comfortable. Only took my old gal an hour to get used to the fact that I was not taking it back off and she now had a built in pillow to snooze wherever she wanted. 90% of the time it just spins when she itches, sometimes her foot makes it up to her cheek, but not her ear. She is annoyed that cannot incessantly clean herself, but her coat looks better for it. She is a light weight skinny gal, but she is actually a larger cat. She just wanted to keep her girlish figure after her spaying. So I got her the Medium. I put the tie piece on top by her head with one knot in it and she has never caught her foot in it in the weeks she has been wearing this.

Works well to keep cat from messing with wound above eye
This is more or a preliminary review so I could provide a few photos to help out others. My cat tends to overgroom herself, Sometimes she'll scratch, using her back foot, a spot above her left eye. She'll do it so much that she'll cause a wound.I've tried other e-collars. Hard plastic ones would have been the most effective, but they completely debilitated my cat's movement. She wouldn't tolerate it at all. I had a couple different cloth e-eollars, but had to cut them down to size. Otherwise, they would've once again debilitated my cat's movement. Yet I knew having to cut down the size of the e-collar, would give my cat an easier chance to mess with the wound. *sigh*So I decide to give one of these donut style ones. They come in different styles, and decided to give this one a try since it had the highest ratings. Got a size small. My cat is petite, so I knew medium would be too big. The small fit, but it was almost too tight around her neck. I did stretch the neck hole a little, could hear the stitching tear a little, but oh well.Yet the cone has been a success! I've watched my cat try to scratch her face with her back feet, but the donut would stop her from doing that. Her mobility is fine, she doesn't become debilitated in her movement. She can eat, drink and use the litter box just fine. I thought she'd still be able to wipe the wound with her paws. I do have to apply a antibiotic/healing cream to the wound. While I haven't seen her try to wipe off the ointment using her front paws, I don't think she has, because the wound is healing as it should, and the scab isn't getting re-opened.Now, for an adult sized cat, I don't think this donut e-collar would stop them from being able to lick any part of their body below their neck. My cat can still groom her belly, feet tail, all spots where a cat may get a wound. SO it really depends on your cat, their size, and where their wound is.This donut is also very cheaply made. I guess you get what you pay for though. I haven't washed it yet, but when I do, I'd definitely hand wash it, as I'm sure it would get messed up in the washer

So much better (and cuter!) than a cone!
I've come back to order a second one of these for our kitten. I bought the first one when we got him neutered to keep him from messing with the wound, and he was small enough at the time that it worked. For a bigger kitty, it may not work so well for that purpose, as they'd be able to get around it. But he just had surgery yesterday to repair a hernia, and it is working wonderfully to keep him from getting to the wound on his belly. I ordered a second one because he's going to have to wear it for two or more weeks this time, and I want one for backup in case one gets dirty so I can clean it without having to put a cone of shame on him in the meantime. I love it because it doesn't come up around his face like a typical e-collar does and make him claustrophobic. He's able to behave fairly normally, he hasn't had any issues using the litter box, eating, drinking, moving around, etc.The string that keeps it tight around the neck comes knotted in a loop...for safety, the first thing I did before putting it on him was untie the loop and tie a small knot in the end of each piece of the string to keep it from fraying. I didn't want him to get that loop caught on something and get stuck or hurt. The plastic slider that tightens the neck piece doesn't hold as securely as I'd like, and if he is determined enough, he can shove it off of his head. I did tie a VERY loose knot in the strings behind the slider so he can't loosen it, but the knot is loose enough we can get it untied quickly if necessary, and we also happen to keep scissors in every room of the house, so we could also cut it in an emergency. There haven't been any issues with that, we're just making sure we're taking precautions to keep him safe. For reference, he is a 10 month old kitten, weighing about 9 pounds, and the medium size fits him well.

Highly recommend
Bought this as a alternative to a e-collar/cone as my kitten was having a hard time eating with the cone after getting spayed. She is more comterable now and sleeps easier. She also hasnt been able to get the new collar off like the cone, which is great.

Happy Kitty
Much happier with this on than he was with a plastic cone, tried the felt flower ones too but they just come off. This one stays on and allows him to eat, drink, use the litter and sleep comfortably. Highly recommend.

Does NOT work
Does NOT prevent kitten from reaching and licking it’s surgery incision sites! Use the traditional plastic cone if you really need to stop them from cleaning themselves. This one is absolutely useless
