Has anyone used this to replace the sink strainer of a Howdens Lamona sink? (I bought a different one already but it doesn't fit)

Hi, please check the picture 2 and measure the dimension of your older one. It will fit your sink if the dimension are the same.

Can I unscrew the top grip part from the rest of the plug?

No as you need to push down to seal plug and use the grip to pull open. The grip does not get in the way as it's pushed down

can you use on a bathroom sink as i like them and I have one on my kitchen sink

Depends on the size of your sink. These plugs only come in two sizes 75mm and 84mm
