Diary of a 6th Grade Ninja Review: Lovely gift idea - Great book for kids. Review: Just a fun read! - I would definitely recommend this for a younger middle grade audience, and a good transition book from chapter books to middle grade. Chase was not looking forward to being the new kid at school, especially since the only person he knew at the school was his cousin, Zoe. But when a group of ninjas recruit Chase to join their clan, things get a little out of control. What I liked: it is just a fun read. Chase is a wonderful protagonist and someone every kid can relate to. The book has some great underlying themes (like friendship and honesty), but it is just a cute story with fun characters, one that even adults would enjoy. What I didn’t like: there were a few parts that felt unnecessary and slowed the flow down, but not enough to detract from the overall enjoyment of the book. 4.5 out of 5 stars

My child read this book twice! It's perfect for a child entering the sixth grade! It will help with their confidence level! It's also perfect for a birthday present and summer collection.

A Parent’s Review
My 2 cents review as a parent would begin with the fairly “blah” story. Not much to it. But it’s “okay” I suppose. Not very much excitement nor cool ninja action. My 3 complaints would be that firstly, the good guys in the story decide to steal a purse as requested by the ninja leader. So not the greatest ethical choice for our heroes. Next, the final battle showdown is a bit bloody & violent in our current PC age. Not really necessary to get so graphic in my opinion. Finally, why the author thought the line “why don’t you two get a room?” was a good choice for a kids book is beyond me. Why? Doesn’t advance the story. It’s a throwaway waste of a line and anyone writing a children’s book should have thought better than that I’d have hoped. Just dumb. I’m no prude but maybe a little better editing & thought on those 3 points could have gone a long way to a more positive review. My kid enjoyed it enough so maybe 3-4 stars from my child’s perspective. I’d give it a 2 & average it out to a 3 between the two of us. I’m on the fence about continuing this series.

My son really enjoyed this book and, as soon as he was finished, said he wanted to read the entire series. I've ordered the next few books, which I am sure he'll enjoy too. He's in Grade 6, so he was really able to relate to the character.

The newest ninja is the new kid in town. He may seem a little shy and scrawny, but he is very courageous; much more courageous than the bully who is the leader of the group. The message is that we should stand up for what is right. My kids loved it!

My grandson hates reading. So to encourage him I’ve tried various methods to break the phone/computer/flatscreen obsession. Well I’ve cracked it with these books. He is now on number 4. And reads a chapter each night in bed. He find them funny and easy reading and good stories. I throughly recommend them to all parents. Not cheep but a good investment to engage both boys and girls
