Easy to put together
Just need to make sure it's on the base properly; easy to turn on tap; used over the winter to collect rain for bird bath - now, in warmer weather, using for plants; added small block of mosquito killer to prevent egg laying

A Good Buy
I am very pleased with this water butt, in fact, so pleased that I bought a second one. They're sturdy and, because they're compact, they can be positioned on a garden path and still allow enough room to get past. However, I had a few challenges when installing them, as follows:- The holes for the tap were very crudely drilled, on both water butts. They were off-center and a lot of plastic swarf was left behind, which I cleared away using a chisel and a round-backed file.- On both butts, when the tap was screwed in fully so that it didn't leak, it wasn't pointing downwards. This was solved on one of the water butts by fitting an additional washer and some plumber's tape (I think it's called PTFE tape). On the other butt, I just fitted a length of hosepipe, which allows containers taller than the height of the tap to be filled, and could be an advantage.- I cut the whole for the connector pipe, without a special hole cutter, by drilling a series of smaller holes in a circle and then filing the hole to the required dimensions (again with a round-backed file). However, I had to use some sealant in order to get a perfect seal, which might not have been necessary if I'd bought a whole cutter.-It would have been useful to have had a cut-away section on the side of the butt opposite the tap, in addition to those on the sides adjacent to the tap, to allow greater flexibility when positioning the butt in relation to the downpipe.Overall, this butt is good value and is recommended.

Slight damage
One foot stand cracked in transit, but it has now been assembled. Seems sturdy enough on its base and weight of water will help

Quick and easy to connect, but make sure you have the right tools
Other reviews have pointed out that the 4-piece stand isn't ideal - you do need to have an absolutely flat surface underneath for it to sit properly. I had to dig the area up a bit and flatten with a spade, so that was a bit fiddly. You are also supposed to use a 26mm (?) drill bit to make the hole at the top for the pipe to connect - who has one of those? I used the largest bit I had, then basically hacked around with the drill and a penknife (!) till the hole was big enough to get the connector through. The last thing that caught me out was when I came to cut the downpipe and realised my hacksaw blade was totally blunted, so had to use a handsaw. It did the job, but the cut wasn't as straight/even as I'd have liked. Luckily the connecting unit covers the slightly uneven lines! These are all installation issues and not really flaws with the rainbutt itself - for the price it's a decent piece of kit, feels sturdy enough now it's in place. The tap went on easily enough (I put a bit of PTFE tape round the thread just to be on the safe side) and it sits neatly by my downpipe in the corner, near my hose connection. Now I just need to wait for it to rain :)

Value for money
The water butt was just what I was looking for as I am limited for space and is ideal with all this rain we are experiencing. However the stand is very easy to clip together is only it would stay. I had to use duct tape all the way round for it to hold together. The manufacturers really need to sort this one out
