Well made in USA at an excellent price point.
Very well made handle is all machined aluminum with nice deep knurls and well formed and fitted threads. The collet is a 4 prong mild steel collet that is permanently seated (seems press fitted or premed in) into the body, so no chance of it coming and losing it. It’s also coated black to prevent corrosion. Collet grips very well, files don’t slip or rotate in the body at all.The files are smaller than your standard sized Swiss pattern files. Mine came reasonably sharp and all straight, no bent tips or shafts. There’s no markings on who manufactured the files, but they appear to be in line with Nicholson files made in Mexico. So. Not top of the line files, but considering the total cost of everything, they’re quite good and was honestly excepting a lesser quality. Files are a little coarse. Not a super fine I’d say it’s a no. 3 or no. 2 coarseness. Good for hobby and crafts and general tool and die work. Watch makers and jewelers will probably not be happy with them. Not soft chinesium grade steel either, the files are hardened well enough to coast through 316L stainless steel without a problem.Only complaint is the file handles are a bit too long when inserted into the body. Only about an inch of the file handle goes in, making it a bit flimsy to file with. This probably just due to the standard length of the file handles, and it’s a easy fix with a dremel and a cut off wheel to shorten up the handle. But feel this is something Commando should do as a final step.

Iam using these on bone nuts for guitars
Iam not trying to do much other than smooth out and get in tight places and just polish up whatI do with nut files when making a guitar nut.. I dont know about what others need these for but this turned out for me to be worth the price for just one of the files i used so I bought another pen for back up.. for me this is 5 stars.. if youre gonna go hard core with these like a sculptor then you are expecting too much, these do delicate and small work.. I like that!

nice, sharp files, good holder
*update* I've been using this file for TWO. YEARS. They all still cut like new and leave a smooth finish. The quality of these files is outstanding, like a freaking vintage (not the worse, modern) Nicholson.I use it for filing guide notches for a jigsaw in stainless steel and it's doing the job wonderfully. All the files are nice and sharp, with good teeth, smooth cutting, and the chuck is comfortable and feels really well made for how insanely cheap this is.I've also use it for thinning plastic pieces by spinning them in a drill and running them along the flat file. I just used the flat file to thin and shape some JB weld for a kinutsugi repair. I also use the flat file to widen the channels in ABS fountain pen feeds. The flat file gets so much abuse, and still cuts like new. It's obviously not for any amount of heavy work, but for hobbyist/intricate work, it's superb.

Unexpected quality for price. YOU NEED OIL
These files are unexpectedly sturdy and sharp. I picked this set up thinking it would only be good for resin and other plastic sanding. But these work on brass, aluminum, and low grade steel without damaging the file itself. Great for the small or intricate projects in your life or work.

Quality, Precision and Made in the USA!
The title of my review pretty much says it all! The quality is top-notch and the precision is excellent. The entire tool set and precision machined handle/inserts are very well made and finely balanced. I have used and abused these most of the files in my set greatly and they are still 100% better than any cheap piece of Chinese garbage you will find out there for pennies on the dollar. I have had several cheap Mini files break from sets that I have purchased online. Never again! Having said that, I would personally recommend ALL the Commando Products to anyone who demands high precision tools for use in their profession. As a Jewelry and watch repair person I own several Commando Products and they are well worth the money spent for fine crafted precision tools made right here in the great US of A! great value for money
Super small size, appropriate for delicate jewelry work. I found the handle doesn't help, I used them without it, it's too bulky. I used them on my last two pieces and they work like a charm. Don't know how long they will last, but for now they are wonderful. A must at the bench.

Quality files from USA
Finally a set of files that are shaped correctly, edges sharp and straight. I had a set of these a long time ago bought from an Ace Hardware store that have worn out. Nice to be able to still find American made tools on Amazon that is reasonably priced.
