I received this jacket today and the size Medium was too large for my 12-pound miniature dachshund, even though her measurements are the same as the size chart indicated for the size. Like another reviewer noted, an incorrect size sticker had been placed over the original size symbol on the sewn-in tag. In my case, an "M" sticker had been placed over the "L" (Large) symbol imprinted on the tag. When I measured the jacket, the widest part of the chest was 20 inches, consistent with size Large from the size chart. I'm returning the jacket for an exchange and will hopefully get a true Medium. I will likely rate it higher once the correct size arrives as the jacket is well made, and will keep my smooth coated dachshund warm during the cold months. I contacted Gooby Pets directly and told them of the sizing errors and they were very appreciative.UPDATE 11/22/2015: I received the exchanged jacket today, size Medium in purple. Again, a "M" (Medium) sticker had been placed over the "L" (Large) symbol on the sewn-in label, the chest measures 20 inches instead of 16 inches for a true size Medium and it's too big. I'm hoping that the problem is only with the purple jackets and will try ordering another color in size Medium.UPDATE 11/30/2015: The 3rd size Medium jacket in blue that I re-ordered was appropriately labeled "M" but still measured 20 inches across the chest (I was so tired of returning jackets that I gave this last one to a friend and it fit her 18-lb Coton well). I think the problem is with the size chart that Gooby includes with the product description. I then ordered a size Small and it fits my 12-pound mini dachshund well. However, in the 3rd photo, you can see that the chest measures almost 17 inches across, which according to the size chart would be a size Medium, not a Small. In the 2nd photo, the original "M" size imprinted on the label was replace with a "S" (Small) sticker. It appears that the size chart is incorrect. Dimensions for size Small are really those indicated for Medium in the chart, and dimensions for Medium are really those indicated for size Large.

It is very difficult to fit a dog jacket. Going up in size means that a medium is 25% larger than a small, etc. So, the Gooby medium is slightly large around the chest on my 12.5 pound Havapoo (16.5 inch chest and 15 inch length). I was more concerned about the length than the chest. This vest has a 12.75 inch length, which, so far, hasn't resulted in my male dog soiling his jacket.I really liked this product. First, it has a built-in harness. This is perfect for me, because my puppy has long hair. If I leave him in his harness all day, his hair becomes matted. With the Gooby, my dog does not need a separate harness, so I can leave it off him all winter. Second, it is thicker than most other jackets. Yes, I know thickness doesn't necessarily equate with warmth, but in this case I think it does. Third, I like the zipper closure on top. There is a protective flap so that hair doesn't get caught in the zipper. A velcro closure would give a snugger fit, but can catch my dog's long hair. Finally, it is very easy to put on.However, the zipper broke the first time I put it in the washing machine (gentle cycle). It was past the return date, but Amazon allowed me to return and replace the vest. So, I just washed the second vest. Once again, the zipper did not survive the gentle cycle. Amazon gave me a credit.

I have two other Gooby dog jackets. Need one for a new canine family member. I put the medium I already have on my new dog, and it fit fine. I order a medium for the new dog. MUCH too big. Try to exchange for small size, but NOPE, not an option. I can exchange this jacket for a much lighter and less expensive jacket, which will not serve the same purpose. SO, I must drive to a UPS hub station (independent stores won't take returns like this) to return this jacket, pay $7.++ in return fees, and then reorder a new one. Yes, I measured, and she fell between the two sizes. Stupid me...a medium I already own fits, so I figured it made sense to order another medium. What I am going to STOP doing is ordering on Amazon. Tired of hidden return polices and the hassles of how to get something correct. I have learned to dig deep for return polices, but they can't always be found. And be very careful when ordering something with questionable English. It is highly likely the shipment is actually coming from China and will take a month or more to receive an item. Been stung that way twice.

This jacket is truly awesome. It is felt lined and well insulated. When I slide my hand underneath while he's wearing it I can feel how toasty it is. The top zipper is ingenious. It keeps my pup's chest warm. I can actually see that he loves it. He doesn't stand around awkwardly like he does with every other jacket and wait for me to take it off when we walk in the door. He's happy to go trotting into the house with the jacket on. He loves to sleep in it.To help others with sizing: I have a miniature schnauzer. He is a bit small for a male schnauzer (the runt of the litter). He weighs 18 pounds. Neck is 12". Chest is 20". Back length is 15". It's a tad loose on him but not enough to keep it from doing it's job. And the medium would definitely have been too tight.

Wonderful fit, very warm, soft comfy inner, lightweight yet relatively thick. The double built-in leash attachment is highly sought after and very sturdy, with double the security. The zipper is also sturdy and well secured, with protection against skin/fur pinch.My boy is 22 lbs, very proportionate, and in size, is between a miniature pinscher and a german pinscher, with a barrel chest. This vest, in size XL, fits him very well - photo attached. His measurements are:Neck: 15" (measured where the guide suggests)Chest: 22.5Length: 14.5"I also attached the size chart for this vest, which I got from the Gooby website. It varies slightly from the size chart offered in the item description, and it could make a difference.I am VERY pleased!

This jacket is a perfect fit for my almost 7lb/3.1kg chihuahua - I bought the small size. It also fits my slim 3.7kg mixed breed and have ordered one for him in the same size. It feels as if it will be a lovely warm padded jacket for the very cold winter days, the fleece lining feels lovely and cosy. She hasn’t worn it yet as it’s too warm so i have no idea of it’s water resistance. It will be very useful not to need to put a harness on the dog, it’s what attracted me to this jacket. I’m hoping that both of my dogs will feel warm, comfortable and cosy this winter.

Love this! Warm, water resistant and easy to put on. We have size Small which is ok for our 5 months old Chihuahua. He doesn't like wearing coats so it's always a challenge to get him ready to go out, but because this coat zips at the back, it's easy to put on. It's also great to have the hooks on the coat rather than needing to also have him in a harness.

I bought size xl for my jack Russel /yorkie Cross. He's abit of a funny shape since he has little legs but a large chest.This coat fits him perfectly. He's very proud to go out in his new coat.I bought the green but will likely get a darker colour in future since mud stains the material of the chest area. Cute coat

Love how easy it is to clean this and how it looks on my dog highly recommend. Sizing is true I got a small for my not so small chihuahua and fits perfectly. It’s also a strong coat so won’t damage easily
