I love this thing. Right out of the box, you can tell it’s built to last. It’s definitely on the heavier side, but that’s because it’s made from solid materials and not some thin, cheap metal. Everything feels durable and well put together. I’ve only used it once so far, but the quality is very promising. It gets super hot, which is exactly what you want for a hot tent setup or cooking in cold conditions. Another big plus is that everything packs down nicely inside the stove, which makes transport and storage way easier. Setup is straightforward, and once it’s going, it performs great. You can tell it’s designed with real use in mind. The only downside I’ve noticed is the spark arrestor—it feels pretty cheap compared to the rest of the stove. [Second edit: after one winter of 24/7 use with the stove I still love it. The top is no longer perfectly flat because of some extra hot blazes. But it would not be noticed by the casual observer. I don’t mind. It still does it’s job perfectly. I bought a larger sized cylinder stove for another house, and it burns through wood too fast when I heat with it. It was almost twice the cost and I like this one better. Highly recommend this stove.] (Quick edit with video: I have been using it in my home over a month and absolutely Love it. Adapted it to 6” pipe at the stove to fit existing chimney. It draws powerfully). I did my outdoor “first burn”, and could not be happier about my purchase, so far. I filled the stove at 11:00 pm with dry black locust logs, shut down the vent and damper and went to bed till 7:00 am. There were plenty of coals that probably would have lasted at least a couple more hours. So I added a couple logs, and away she went. I love the length and opening of the fire box for big logs. I can fit a full sized spade in the door with ease for cleaning or adding wood chips. The top is cross braced inside and after a super hot fire of dried wood chips, it remains perfectly flat. I only used three sections of the stovepipe, but it was a very stiff Kansas prairie wind, and the pipe stood firmly with no extra support. The door and vent closure fit well, but I plan to push the seals a tiny bit tighter with very slight modification. It could be done with loose shims at each overnight use, or a more permanent shim apparatus could be designed to remove play (which is very slight). It won’t be hard to do because the materials and hinges are very solid and flat, coming together perfectly. It will be air tight and I may get even more than the 8-10 hour hardwood burn time I already see. The 5” damper is in the first section of pipe. I would rather it was in the second section for added heat radiation, but it is fine. I also wonder if a 5.5 inch damper would be too tight for the pipe? I may try one some day to see. The offset pipe hole is genius, but it made me wonder if it could have been even further to the right? (Allowing even more stovetop use). I Love this thing and plan to heat my connected kitchen/bedroom/bathroom in my house with it. I’m sure it will cut my heating bill at least in half. I figured you usually “get what you pay for” and I would end up disgusted, since it is a fraction of the cost of my other options. But man, I got way more than I paid for. I think this thing will be my close friend for years. It is such a solid build. Very impressed.

The legs are indeed adjustable. The holes are irrelevant bring pliers and tighten the screws where you need them to be.... Pretty simple I'd say all these reviews about the legs. Anyways. Full damper mode and front air vents shut and this thing heats my tent with zero issues at all. I have 3 to 5 windows open at any given time although it's only 40 outside right now. Cooking on this is so easy and nice ESPECIALLY with the side racks. The stove pipe starts at 5 inch and works it's way up to over 6 inches...... I recommend getting an adjustable rain cap from home Depot online 5 through 7 inch cap is nice and no messing around. I've had the pipe red hot by total mistake just looked away for a second and bam shut the vents and put a fan on pipe and it was fine. Not often do I not have something to complain about when I buy something no matter what it is but this stove is simple and effective I cannot wait for winter here in Michigan to really test this out. I have a 14x16 tent and it heats up in probably 2 minutes at the very most. This stove is not for small tents the bottom of the stove doesn't heat the floor even a little. I have brick under mine and it's overkill 😂 a nice pad under and in front for if things fall out while you're dinking around is all that's needed. I like the brick so I'll keep using it. I try to load wood in front away from stove pipe so I can keep flame from going in pipe and with the length of this stove that's easy to do and it helps. I can easily throw this up over my shoulder but that's just me. The stove is on the heavy side from what I can tell when I showed it off to others and they tried to pick it up. I'm 5 foot 9 150lb I do have a heavy lifting constant moving job so I am physically fit to carry this and then fire wood in my back in a bag with some water tied to the side if I need to. I recommend getting a metal wagon or nice sled for winter for transporting. It burns wood fast though probably 3-4 hours is the longest burn you'll get the ash is minimal because the heat level and efficiency is so nice it leaves nothing behind. Well that's my review. Update Nov 2 2023 Michigan Lower temps hit the last few days and my 14 x 16 tent has stayed more than warm far more than enough so far even though it hasn't been freezing outside (32°) or lower i have not had the stove full and wide open yet. The roof peak inside the tent for the pipe is over 9 ft high so the pipe heat isn't much of a worry although I have a powerful fan hunger from my center support tent pole the fan is hanging from to blow on the upper tent roof and the stove pipe so it stays cool up on the top. I recommend a wood stove heat powered fan and also a nice power fan to keep heat moving around and to keep the stove pipe cool. With the stove shut down and damped down all the way I accidentally got the stove pipe red hot 2 sections up high and was worried 😂 all was well after I got the heat down and figured things out. Load small amount of wood and to the front of stove the keep flame from shooting up pipe and you can run as hot as you want. The legs need to be tightened with pliers that's why there is only 2 holes after that they will not move ive had zero issues with the legs. User errors is not manufacturing error you turds. The stove is okay. I've noticed welding is not the best around the top cooking top so check that before your first burn and for other holes and imperfections Stove keeps my 10-12 person tent warm in 20° weather. Not too bad. It's a joke though the spark arrester they sent. I've ordered a few different caps and you definitely need to make a sleeve out of the spark arrester they provided along with a raincap that has a spark arrester built in. My tent has been replaced because of coals hitting the roof while damped down so yeah be aware. Don't move the fire around at all and keep a couple screens around the cap

Purchased this camp stove for my 16’ canvas bell tent. I ♥️ camping, but hate being cold. Waffled between this stove and some other (highly recommended by many blogs and camping websites) more expensive stoves. Looked at cheaper options but didn’t like what the reviews said about them. I don’t regret this purchase in the least. First, it’s built like a tank. It’s going to last years, probably decades. It’s heavy, though, so you won’t be taking it on a hike up the mountain. But if you drive to your campsite or have a stationary camp, this is perfect. I read the other reviews and there is good information there. Use the driest of wood, open the damper, build the fire in the back of the stove until the stove pipe is hot enough to draw the air in and up, taking the smoke with it. Do the first burn outside so the fumes from the coating on the metal dissipate. I was concerned that the spark arrester wouldn’t be sufficient, but my very dry wood isn’t even sending sparks. No smoke after the initial paper and cardboard smoke that I used for getting the fire lit. So the spark arrester is fine. I was concerned that smoke might leak around the door because no gasket is there, but aside from the initial lighting, no smoke comes to the front. The draw on this thing ROARS when the door is open. The stove pipe is really high, and I think I will be adding metal eye screws for guy lines for peace of mind in case of heavy winds. It’s bigger than I thought it would be. I uploaded a photo with a work glove for size reference. I’m excited for fall camping, this thing really puts off some heat. The stove has a great design, and just works like it should. It’s well worth getting.

Super product and value. Brilliant design and ease of setup. I was concerned about the quality of the stove pipes but they work great and easy to setup and take down. As a man, I did not find the unit too heavy to life and could easily bring from the truck to our camp site. Any distance over 50 yards and I would sit it down and take a break. We added screws to ours while camping and never had concern of wind knocking down. Don't expect air tight fit. This unit is best suited for tents with good venting, outdoors, etc. For permanent install you would want some sealant around pipes. The door could use a good seal as well to further control the venting. We thoroughly enjoyed the heat this put out in our 13 foot bell tent while camping in Hiawatha National Forest.

This is a pretty awesome wood stove! As others said you definitely should preburn it outside for about 4-6 hours to burn off any chemicals,etc. After the 5th or so hour the smell went away. It takes a learning curve to use it. But I figured it out pretty quickly. I.e. when to turn damper, close vent/open vents etc. It kept my large canvas bell tent pretty warm all night. Had a carbon monoxide detector and it never got near a lethal amount, maybe 20ppm at the most when I added wood etc. Didn't cook on it but boiled water in about 5 mins. It's a great option to have if rained out or too windy outside for cooking. When the fire burnt out I noticed it got cool pretty quickly. I did end up getting a new spark arrestor that has a cap incase of heavy rain but the wire one provided works good enough. It opens and goes around outside of stove pipe. I also added a heat shield to the pipe near tent stove jack hole as a insurance. I never had issue of pipe getting red hot. But I completely controlled how much wood I added to prvent that issue. Only real downside was out of 4 legs 2 of the inserts on the stove had no hole to secure it via wing screws on the legs. I might just drill my own. Overall though I think it's a well built camp wood stove and would recommend to others.

I have been searching high and low for a quality, yet affordable wood burning stove for my cabin. After months of research and reading reviews, I settled on the Camp Chef Alpine. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive, but there were some concerns. My main concern stemmed from several reviews where customers unboxed the stove only to discover that it had been damaged during the shipping process. When I got home and saw the torn box in my driveway, I was nervous. As I unboxed it, I was relieved to see that the stove was in perfect condition. I opened the door of the stove and removed all of the components. Some of the reviews stated that the holes at the base of the stove for the screws in the legs were missing. I found this as well. Only two of the leg receivers on the stove were drilled out. This was not really a problem, as I just lowered the legs onto the receivers all the way and tightened the screws down on the metal. It held just fine. The setup of the stove was very easy. For the intial burn, I only installed 3 sections of the chimney pipe, but they went together very easy. The only other issue I had was the door latch wouldn't fit down in the slot to close the door. I took a screwdriver and pryed the metal tab out just a tad and the latch, while snug, slid righ in. This "problem" would turn out to be a pleasant surprise, because the door now seated firmly shut when the latch was in place. I was actually anticipating having to install a door gasket, based on the reviews, but I'm not sure that I will have to at this time. My last concern, based on some reviews, was that the stove would burn though the wood quickly and would not hold heat more than an hour or two. I tested this last night. I loaded the stove up around 9 pm and got the fire rolling. I then closed the vent on the door, and closed off the damper. When I checked the stove at 6 am the next morning, the wood had burned, but there were still hot coals at the bottom of the stove. I mixed the coals around a bit, opened the vents and damper, added another piece of split firewood into the stove, and 5 minutes later had a roaring fire. I am beyond impressed with this stove after the initial trial and burn. If it continues to work in a cabin setting like it did in the initial trial, I will be elated! Because I intend to use this stove in a cabin, my next project is to replace the chimney that was included with actual durablack and duraplus stove and chimney pipe. It looks like there is an adaptor to increase the 5" stove opening to work with a standard 6" stove pipe. Long story short, I am loving this stove so far. It is a very quality product and an extremely reasonable price.

This thing will keep you warm!! I have used about 12 times now in below 0 temps and haven't been cold once. If you have it choked properly it burns long enough that you only need to restock it once in the middle of the night. This will last for a long time, it's nice and beefy. The racks on the side are amazing to have. They are great for drying socks/gloves after a day in the bush and also handy for warming up food. Talk about heat, this stove rips! I have boiled big pots of water accidently. I put water on to warm up and cranked the stove open and next thing you know it was boiling over. Awesome stove. I'd buy it again if I had to but I'm sure I will never need to.

Awesome Wood Stove! - This little wood stove radiates heat for its size. Had a great first burn and it works amazing. Would be amazing in a 10 x 12 Cabin or 12 x 12 Tent and should be able to keep is occupants toasty warm on the cold nights. Only problems I can see for this would be the spark arrestor and the damper. The spark arrestor if very flimsy. The first time I tried to put it over the stove pipe the mesh broke and had to be replaced and it is not very secure. The damper hand get extremely hot when running the stove so please be careful when opening & closing the damper. Other than these two minor things this stove is a real winner and will be a welcome part of our hunting cabin.

This stove is heavy, and durable. All the parts fit snugly into the fire box for transport and storage. The steel is thicker than your typical camping stove/tent stove so heat takes a few more minutes to be felt but once your fire is going you'll be set. I used this on a camping trip with overnight temps below 0c and had a hot burning fire going all night. There was no warping of the stove. The chimney provided is made of pretty thin tin and could be thicker. The spark arrestor is small for the pipe and near impossible to place, and the mesh is too thick, allowing sparks to freely pass through.

The legs are really not adjustable. They are one length that fasten onto the stove with a finger style bolt. The legs will often fall off when maneuvering the stove as the finger tight bolts don't seem to hold the legs tightly enough into place. I was able to get a 3 1/2 hour burn time so far. It would be nice to have a stove gasket around the door to have complete control over the airflow. Aside from the above the stove is well built and I think it will be durable. The chimney will need some self tapping screws on the joints for windy weather.
