Saved a $150 stool!
We had a roll about stool. The factory welded an end cap on each leg with a threaded center nut that received a threaded caster. The tack weld broke on one leg and the caster fell off. The legs were 1/2" diameter hollow tubes. I cut off 1/2" of each tube and thus the welded end cap as well. I inserted these plastic sockets into the tube end and then casters. Worked fine and saved $150 stool Casters were from the Shepherd as well, from my local big box hardware store. (Shepherd 2 in. Black Plastic and Steel Twin Wheel Swivel Stem Caster with 75 lb. Plastic sockets for bed casters
Initially I ordered 3/4 inch plastic sockets for my bed casters. They were too large so I had to reorder the 5/8 inch sockets. This was my problem. When the 5/8 inch sockets came I could not completely insert all the way into the caster. I could only get them about 3/4 of the way up. Since the sockets are plastic I took my drill and enlarged the hole just a little. This time I was able to insert them all the way in. Problem solved. So be aware that you may need to do a little customization even when you order the correct size.

Cheap and great!
Been meaning to replace the lost wheels and realized I only have one socket left. Measured the pipes and hoped for the best with this. Almost didn't fit...until I used my hammer and the metal shaved the extra edges. Now there's room for more shoes below!

Made them work.
I bought casters from Shepherd hardware and the nylon grommet was not large enough, so I bought some bigger grommets, they were the correct size but the hole the caster was to fit in was to small. I drilled them out to make them work. What I paid for them was not worth sending them back. Some times thing just are not what the seem to be. But life goes on. Thanks

Came next day after I ordered it. Easy installation and seems better than the original ones.

Order up a few sizes!
I got these bad boys for my desk I made. It’s using 3/4” galvanized pipe for legs. I wanted to put on some casters to help save the flooring in my apartment. These are too small. The rim of these plugs fit, but nothing else does. I’m going to order up a few sizes. Since these slide in to my pipe and wiggle a ton. I wrapped some electrical tape around but it didn’t keep my casters from tilting. Attached are pictures of the slant.
