Review: Phonics rules - Disclaimer: I know this differs with each child and their learning abilities, so this is solely from the basis of how I feel as a parent on the contents of this book. I firmly believe phonics will help with a childโs reading ability more than sight words and memorization. That being said, this book contains great starter sentences and progresses in difficulty in a way that I think aids in child learning. Simple, rhyming sentences (ex. dot has lots of spots) with pictures, but not overly filled pages to where the child feels overwhelmed and like itโs a hard chore. The activities could be better, but from a child perspective I think theyโre alright. My 5yo did a few of the sections and was already being able to easily read now, granted they are in preschool and already knew their letters and sounds, but this gave me the ability to give English rule examples (ex. And E at the end makes the earlier vowel say its name like A says AYE in LAKE). Overall, highly recommend. Easy for me as the parent and seemingly for my child as well. Review: Perfect book to teach phonics - Great book for my 4 year old! Has very good set of easy words and good quality print. Would highly recommend this as a first self reading book.

Phenomenal book for teaching reading
I *truly* can't heap enough praise on this book. My daughter went from knowing her letters, but still forgetting them somewhat often - to almost being able to read JUST by me teaching her using this book. I'm really impressed with it. I like that the stories are short, but pack in a lot of learning, so little one doesn't get frustrated or tired by going on & on forever. But, at the beginning of this book she really struggled to get through each story. Now, at the end of the book, she's reading the entire story herself except maybe one word ("could," specifically.) I'm just really impressed with how much of a difference this one book has made in a few weeks. Great stuff. I wish there were more of them, I'd buy a whole set if they had them.

Excellent CVC and Sight Word Stories
Perfect for new readers who are learning to create words by putting phonetic letter sounds together. The stories also include multiple sight words for beginning readers. My only complaint is the book is large and heavy and difficult to keep open for young readers. I broke it apart, punched 3 holes in the pages, and placed them in smaller binders (which was VERY hard to do because the book is excellently bound).

Big, hefty, quality book, recommend! Decent price.
Big, hefty book, pages are not thin. Some activities and lots of short stories with a good layout with cute and large graphics with minimal words for the stories and some tracing pages. I suppose you could keep it even after the activities are complete if the child still had an interest in reading all the short stories. It is a decent price @ $8.28. Recommend!

Excellent Workbook
I cannot say enough good things about this workbook. This book fully supports the Science of Reading approach. As a second grade teacher who works with several struggling readers, this is the perfect workbook. It has several decidable readers with activities for each one. My daughter asks to do this book nightly, and I have noticed a significant improvement in her reading abilities. My favourite part about this book is that we can continue to reread the decodables to build up her fluency even after we complete the workbook. This is an excellent purchase for beginner readers, or struggling readers!

Great resource for beginner readers
This is a big thick book full of funny stories and simple games. All the stories have pictures to go with each sentence so it's easy for kids to grasp the meanings. My 6 year old's reading is processing well with this. Just make sure they're also learning phonics from another source first as this is really more like practise material than for learning phonics from scratch.
