... this I can conclude that there is indeed some good information in this book
Having waded through this I can conclude that there is indeed some good information in this book. The access to the graphs and tables is excellent as a teaching aid.The book is generally well written, sadly a few type errors occur and it seems these occur in important areas making some areas ambiguous (especially if you don't already know what they mean). The information is relatively up to dateSadly , it is a classic example of non user friendly writing. Too often there are blocks of what amount to literature reviews, which is fine, but essentially detracts from the flow of the text. There is a great deal of mathematics and notation (which is clearly stated on the back and very welcome as proof of concept) However, it is often poorly explained and assumes too much in depth knowledge. At times it is not clear if the authors fully understand the maths and it feels as though they are trying to blind the reader with notation in a bid to legitimise/prove their knowledge.I do not intend this harshly but it seems as though it has been written with pedantry and self righteous posturing of academia in mind. As though the authors were fearful of explaining too fully the concepts in case academics criticised them for it.Sadly this makes it HUGELY REPETITIVE, TAKING OFTEN SIMPLE CONCEPTS AND MAKING THEM UNNECESSARILY COMPLICATED.Many chapters also jump back and forth between concepts with no logical reason for doing so.Graphs are many and varied which is good and helps to cut through some of the over information. The authors should have gone more with the less is more approach. The book needs to decide if it is a text book or not. I don't think the authors actually decided themselves. It is a valuable book, but it is aimed at academics and perhaps upper level under graduates, MSc and beyond. Students of a more mathematical bent may also like it.It is not however user friendly.

No scrolling on kindle app
Purchased the amazon kindle version of this book... I wanted to be able to copy and paste information into my revision notes. Very disappointed with the kindle app and the lack of scrolling. I have given this book a 1 star review as you have only made it available to buy through the kindle app. Will not be buying any more books on the kindle until a scrolling feature is added.

Handy book
This book has really good information and a few excellent diagrams, however, I feel that there was too much block writing and little diagrams for an excercise book. However, it is a brilliant idea to have a companion website to access for free.
