This product is insanely effective to stop thumb sucking!! I’m in (pleasant) shock. Background - our daughter has sucked her thumb basically since birth. I actually didn’t care to have her stop yet except that the thumb sucking turned into a simultaneous hair pulling (her own hair) issue around 2.5 years old which got really bad. I bought every little hair toy, fidget item, literally everything out there to try to stop the hair pulling but nothing even touched it. I learned it is a self soothing behavior exclusively tied to thumb sucking so … our finnnnnal last ditch effort was to try to stop the thumb sucking, something I wasn’t too hopeful would work based on all I had read about how hard it is to stop with really young kids. TWO DAYS. 2. That’s it. I put this stuff on her thumbs and she completely stopped thumb sucking (and hair pulling) in TWO days. I am mind blown. Day 1/ the first time she tried it her reaction was extreme. Tears, she started drooling - it was intense. We made up a story about how when you get too old to suck your thumb it just starts to taste bad. After 2 days of applying at around 3x per day her entire oral habit seems to have stopped. She’s not even reaching up to suck her thumb or trying while falling asleep or anything!! We are now 3 weeks in and she doesn’t seem to miss it or be inclined to suck her thumb at all, even without needing the product anymore. 10/10 recommend I also tasted it. It’s awful, almost causes an oral reaction it’s so bad, but it freaking worked!!

But of a backstory, I bought this for my husband as well as my almost 4 year old. My husband has had a nail biting issue since he was in grade school. His nails are nonexistent and his fingers are nubs at this point. He bites his nails 24/7 and at this point doesn’t even realize he’s biting them. Our 4 year old has recently started the bad habit as well in the last year. I decided to put this on my son‘s nails at 9 AM. I am a firm believer that if I’m giving my child something like this I should also be trying it. Now I do not have a nail biting issue, but I put a dab on my hand and licked it. Holy crap this stuff taste horrendous. I instantly begin chugging water, spitting in the sink. I saw the previous reviews where they said that it made their child puke and I thought it was an exaggeration. But there I was in the sink, thinking I was gonna be sick. It is now 10 AM. The wave of bitterness and sickness passed within 2 minutes, within five minutes, I had gotten the taste out of my mouth because I was chugging water. Now an hour later I still feel it linger. I have a slight headache from the taste and my stomach hurts. It tastes almost like battery acid. It is very bitter and an absolute awful taste. My four-year-old now has it on his hands (I put it on his fingers and then I tasted it) He has yet to put his hand in his mouth. When my husband comes home will be the real test. Because I’m curious to see how long it lasts and lingers on your fingers. So as of right now, I give it five out of five stars. I will update this at the end of the week and see if we have kicked the nailbiting habit out of our house. But please be aware it is truly a horrible taste. So parents, please be aware your kid may puke.

Zero stars!! Do not purchase this item! This is the worst product ever purchased. I tried it first (put a dot only) before I put it on my four year old and I THREW UP! This is not even safe for adults, how is it safe for kids! This should be removed from the market ASAP

My son is 17 months and has had a bad habit of biting his nails since after he turned a year old around the same time I took his pacifier away. He started biting his nails to the point that he would complain they hurt because of how short they are but would continue to bite them regardless of them hurting. I bought this product to try and it does work when it is on his nails. Before putting it on his nails I tried it myself and it does have an awful bitter taste! It does prevent him from biting his nails but I have noticed that once it has worn off or washed off he will begin biting again. If I am consistent with it his nails are able to finally grow back. He does still bite them but I am hoping eventually after continuing to use it he will grow out of the habit. It is so simple to put on his nails that he even will do it himself! I recommend this product and will continue to purchase when I run out.

tastes terrible (doing it’s job) it worked for my 2 year old the first day, now i think he’s getting used to the taste lol. i recommend if you have a not so stubborn toddler. the application process is easy and you can take it anywhere!

My daughter is 4 and has sucked her thumb since she was a newborn. We've been talking about stopping because her dentist was noticing that her bottom teethe were starting to get pushed out in addition to the top teethe. I told her about putting some "yucky" stuff on her thumb to help her stop and she asked me to get some so she could try it. (I know, she's only 4, but yes this was our conversation). We put it on the first night before bed. PEOPLE! She literally hasn't sucked her thumb in 3 weeks. To her credit, she has been really motivated and agreed to this process. She takes it to her school and asks her teachers to help her put it on before nap so that she doesn't accidentally suck her thumb. Lol. But the way the product is designed and the super horrible taste are the reasons I'm recommending this. It's easy enough to apply that she can apply it herself and she does sometimes. I love the pen and brush style. GREAT product. I tasted it, by the way, and it was absolutely horrible. Tastes like skunk smells. I had to use a washcloth to wipe it out of my mouth. I will recommend to anyone I know whose kid nail bites or sucks their thumb.

Holly molly. This thing works! Put this on one day, and she stopped sucking her thumb. Yes, she misses her thumb and I had to put it on again 4 days later to remind her, but wow it does work! I also tried it, it's yucky but that is why it works wonders! Wish I would off done this earlier with her.

I will start saying that this thing taste horrible horrible horrible, but unfortunately my toddler got used to the taste on the second day, I ended up putting on me as well and OMG I can’t believe she still sucks her thumb. I’m on the 3rd day and I still taste the bitterness. I moved to the thumb guard and still using nixxit on the other fingers to prevent it from changing the finger she sucks.

It did not work that good

Within in two days our daughter had basically broken the habit. I should have bought this sooner! Tastes absolutely terrible, you only need a small amount!

Good product. Tastes horrible but is not toxic. You must be diligent applying after every hand wash. I removed one star because the release twisting top to bring product to the brush sometimes doesn’t work. But i would recommend.
