3 dB RCA Line Level Audio Attenuator Pair

This 3dB attenuator pair just arrived at my doorstep today. I'm using this pair between an ONKYO C-7030 CD player and a Technics SH-8055 graphic equalizer(Yes, both the fluorescent display & sliders still light up!). My problem is that the line-level output is too high from the ONKYO CD player and completely overdrives the Technics equalizer into clipping(distortion). While there are 6dB & 12dB versions of this product, I felt 3dB was a good starting point. It does help bring down the clipping, but not enough. So I will now buy the 6dB version and that should be just right.

These did what they were supposed to do, but there was a pretty big loss in dynamics and dimension. Not sure why, since passive components should not do this.

It did the job. I went another route due to the inflexibility and cost (or I would have ordered the 12db version to try again.) High quality product to be sure. The four stars rating is for the cost, not the quality.

Good construction and high quality. I'm bi-amping my Martin Logan Vista speakers using a pair of Monarchy Audio SM70 Pro solid state amps to drive the woofers and a Rogue Audio Stereo 90 Super Magnum tube amp to drive the panels. The Monarchy amps have higher gain so I'm using these attentuators (between preamp and amps) to reduce the sound level from the woofers and it works very well. They do what they are supposed to, reducing the sound level, no sound quality altered. Happy with the result and highly recommend them

The only think wrong with this transaction is that I should have gone with -6dB attenuators rather than -3dB.
