These are great for the price (they were down to 169.00 on sale)! They are very sharp out of the box and cut through everything like butter. I do not believe that they are true damascus steel because the pattern is only on the blade part and does not extend up into the tang. Also Damascus steel's that I have seen are more dull in color and not as shiny. This should not matter as they are still very good quality and cut extremely well. I have had to re teach my self how to cut in the kitchen as a mistake with these would not be forgiving, I believe it would go straight through your fingernail where other blades would stop. They are thinner than I was led to believe but are still durable and not "flimsy" at all. I highly recommend esp. if on sale.

Edit: Yeah these sharp. Lines are fainter than product images, but still apparent and after 2 years still holding up. No rust. Sliced my thumb open just taking the cardboard sleeve off. These things are nasty. The Damascus pattern isn't as noticeable as pictures make it look, but they still look great. Handles are hollow, but expected that because of the price. I recommend these so far, the honing rod works very well on other knives I have too. Let's see if the edge holds up and doesn't chip or dull easily, but so far so good!

I actually did the test to see if this in fact is damascus, and the blade is, but the handle is not. I sanded down the metal on one side of one blade then polished that side, then put drain cleaner acid on that side for a minute and the damascus pattern came back. They have welded the blade to the handle like many knife makers do. The blades are thin and very very very sharp. There were a few chips in a few blades but they were very small, and not in an area that requires immediate resharpening. Also the fact that there are tiny chips on a few spots is proof these blades have a high hardness and were tempered. Overall these are a good value, and i am happy with my knives and my wife was happy with them even before she knew they were real damascus.

I’ve never really been prone to buy expensive knives. I’ve always felt that the $20 set from Costco seemed to do the job just fine. Besides, if something happened, I could just go back and get another set. Well, my husband got me these knives for Xmas (with some prodding from me) and I was ready to give more expensive knives a chance. Of course if you wander through the knives section at Williams Sonoma you’ll see that these are, comparatively speaking, still inexpensive knives. Well, the knives arrived today and I couldn’t be happier. They have that layering seen in good knives and weapons, they are balanced nicely, they are sharp - boy are they sharp - and they’re nice looking. I’m pretty happy so far, but let’s see what happens after some time using them. I need to look to see what the warranty is on these knives, I never checked and that might be important and certainly important when selecting a knife set like this. But, back to the point, the knives seem to be very good quality and they are being sold at a good price compared to this quality elsewhere.

Fast shipping to me. These were reccomended from a friend. I am so glad I bought them. I have bought many knife sets & spent alot of money on them. These are the best & sharpest quality I have gotten. I absolutely love these knives. They cut meat like softened butter. So far I have had them for awhile now, & still as sharpe as the 1st day I got them!!

Writing this review a couple years after purchasing these knives and I’m still happy with them. I use them daily and they are still sharp!

love this knife set. made food prep easy and enjoyable. thank you to others buyers that called out how sharp they are. best to take care and keep that in mind. for years I used dull knives and thought that was the norm. always looking forward to prepare meals now, so easy and smooth, such ease with these knives. I don't find them particularly very sharp, by the weight is nice. Handles look painted on, wood block is nice. For the price they are decent, I just expected them to be much sharper given reviews we read. Hubby likes them, so that's a plus.

Bonne qualité. Acheté au moment qu'il y avait un rabais de 50$. Par contre, le damassage n'est vraiment pas voyant. Il faut le regarder dans un certain angle et de la lumière pour vraiment le voir.
