Will this work with a small gas bbq grill?

Yes it will work with a small or large bbq grill, camp stove, regular stove gas or electric, campfire, bed of coals, can of sterno, blowtorch, or induction heater if you have the cast iron pie iron (not the aluminum) It will not work in a microwave

What is the diameter of the disk?

I don't now why Amazon can't answer these sort of questions themselves or from their supplier.The external dimension is100 mm and the internal diameter is 95mm

Also, what is the difference between the 1805 pie maker and the 1205??

The 1205 is called a "Jaffle" iron - an Australian version. Although I don't have a 1205, the specs say it has a larger cooking pan but shorter handles. It seems to be made more for use on a barbecue, or gas ring rather than for use in a campfire fire ring. Some Jaffle irons by other makers have very short handles. The 1205 by Rome has handles only slightly shorter than the 1805. We have 4 of the 1805s, and love them. They are a great products and fun to take along whenever a campfire is planned. The possibilities for pie iron snacks are nearly endless.

Are these pie irons American made?
