Thumbs up!
After I botched the first one, I had great success with the rest! I made Mock Apple hand-held pies and each one turned out great. Much easier than shaping them by hand and much faster. You do have to dust the press each time so your dough doesn't stick. I would definitely recommend them.

Works great
As a lifelong lover of empanadas I jumped at the opportunity to get a press to make the rolling and pressing process fast and easy. While this product doesn't help with the rolling process, (still need the trusty tortilla press for that) it does make cutting and forming a breeze. The hard plastic construction and sharp edge on the base is perfect for cutting the dough in circles and the hinged press leaves you with the perfect pocket. Since it comes with three different sizes, I really enjoyed being able to make the tiny empanadas for my daughter. There isn't enough of a size difference between the large and medium ones but thats a minor complaint. The only issues are that the hard plastic is a bit tough on the hands when pressing down and the handles that are molded in don't offer enough support to get the perfect seal. So you do end uppressing down on the plastic "cutting" edge. Secondly, the scallopped edge isn't as nontick as the rest of the surface. After a few empanadas I found them sticking to the edges. I ended up using parchment paper over the press and it worked like a dream. Very happy with this purchase, all it needs is a tortilla press in place of one of the smaller sizes and it would be the perfect package.

Great gadget
Def not sturdy so don't put to much pressure on them. Handy gadget you can stuff such more in the pastry and gives a nice finish.

They work with some help
These are ok. Probably would not buy them again. Really flimsy. And small. Don't expect to use the bottom of the press to cut your dough. First off it doesn't and second even if you use the next size bigger and a pastry knife it's still too small for the press if you put any filling in them. I had a really good metal set that disappeared in a divorce. (But that's another story). That worked really good for calzones. And Strombolies. Basically meat pies. I used to make them and bake them off. Then wrap in foil to put on the engine of my truck for work lunches. And I got these to do the same for my Grandson who is just starting out on his own. He loves the ones with pulled pork and bbq sauce. Anyway don't buy these you will be disappointed

Easy, Effecrive, and Affordable
I used the smallest size (pink) for ravioli and I've used the medium size (green) for pierogis. The large size (orange) would be perfect for empanadas. It is made of plastic, so as long as you are gentle, these should be a helpful tool in your kitchen. Suggestions for use: 1. When you are cutting out the circle shape with the back of the maker, it sometimes doesn't cut through in the area where the hinges are. So I started to press into the dough and turn clockwise and counterclockwise to make sure the cut is clean. 2. It doesn't always fold perfectly in half, so keep an eye on the edges and adjust before sealing. 3. One cookie scoop is the perfect amount of filling for the small size (pink). 4. When making ravioli, use small amounts of dough (say 1/2 cup) and cut all the circles out first. Then fill and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and dusted with flour. Cover with a clean kitchen towel as you go to keep the pasta from drying out.

Not great
These do not work well at all. Dough repeatedly get stuck, or you can fill the dough very little. They do not crimp well and fall apart easily.

Great set for the money!
I bought this set for the smaller size to make handpies/fried pies. I used the small pink size for my fried pies the back cut the dough well and the size laid easily in the press to fill and seal the pies. I did seal them without water on the edge and with and did not see a different as long as there was no tear in the dough. I plan on using the larger ones for empanadas but I expect them to work. Only suggestion, don't overfill. The small ones used about 2 tbsp of filling. Great product and was easy and fun to use, easy clean up.

These presses work well if you know how to use them properly. Have to be careful to not overfill them otherwise, the filling might burst out when folded. I use them with fathead dough which breaks easily but worked well with these presses. They seal well and the filling does not come out while baking. They are large (as in the description), not dumpling size.
