Good for astronomy out in the field, especially the low setting. Doesn't mess up your night vision.

Recently took it to Joshua Tree and it did what it was supposed to. Does not come with batteries. It is small and compact and the brightness is okay.

took a trip to New Zealand and at a the wildlife conservation area this is what they recommended as we searched at night for the elusive Kiwi birds and we found them and they weren't too concerned as we watched them eat. You need these to check out nighttime wildlife because they aren't as startled by the red lights as they are the bright white lights. No cameras were allowed. They served their purpose well.

I've long learned to test every product. This has a focus mode, low & high and strobe. No battery included but just as well. When you depend on cheap batteries, you get what you pay for.

My husband and I each keep one of these flashlights on our bedside table so we can get to the bathroom and back, or wake up on early wintry mornings, and not wake each other up. They also keep us from being woken up too much by bright light ourselves. We use them every night!

I needed a red flashlight to work as sailing crew last week and this light totally failed me. It worked at first, sort of. It would always randomly start flickering and I'd have to turn it off and on again to stop the flicker. But a couple days in, the battery started slipping out of place and the light wouldn't work at all. Sometimes taking the battery out and putting it back in, or shaking it, would make it work again for a short while, but then it would stop again a few minutes later. Very annoying. Not a light you can depend on that is for sure. The battery compartment is way too big for the battery, so it is a design flaw, not just a defective item. Even when the light works, it is very dim compared to similar lights, and has a very narrow beam. It wont illuminate even a small space such as a sleeping bunk on a boat (which I needed it for). Even though it is cheap, it is way too expensive for what it is. It would be a rip off even from the dollar store. I don't know why anyone would give this light a positive review. Total garbage. I've used other red flashlights from other manufacturers that worked as intended. Unfortunately, I lost my last one and gave this one a try. Don't make the same mistake I did.

really love my red flashlights. We need to use them to walk the dog at night in the winter and I did not like all the other blue light flashlights. These work well.

Solid little lights with a beam that reaches 15 feet at least (haven't tested it outside the house). I need to check on my ball python in his terrarium at night and keep one of these flashlights close by to peek in when needed. This light gives me a perfect view of everything I need to see without stressing him out. The button to turn on/off or change the beam function depresses easily and the end part of the light that extends for a more focused beam works fine. It doesn't slip out of place at all like I read in another review. I think it is magnetized to keep it in closed position and just a slight pull extends it. Overall I'm super impressed. If you need a red light flashlight for anything I highly recommend these.

It is okay and works as it should. I used the flashlight in a dark sky viewing area to get around. I noticed that it quickly drains the dollar store batteries (one or two days even without regular use). I ended up buying the batteries from the more established and high end brands and even if they were more expensive, I had no further issues.
