Ngl I almost puked eating this the smell is terrible but the taste isn’t bad. It’s more of an acquired taste. The color was darker than the picture it’s like a brownish black.

That alone was a massive relief and a sign of quality. But the real magic happened when we peeled them open... That first bite was an instant time machine! The rich, complex umami flavor, that unique creamy-yet-firm texture of the egg white, and that gloriously intense, molten, almost-cheesy yolk... it was EXACTLY as we remembered from years ago. No weird aftertastes, no off-putting smells – just pure, authentic, perfectly balanced preserved duck egg perfection. It’s incredible how a single taste can transport you back decades. These eggs captured that deep, savory, slightly fermented magic that made them such a beloved treat in our family. The flavor profile is spot-on – complex, earthy, deeply satisfying, and utterly unique. It’s not just food; it’s a sensory memory unlocked. Note***Preserved eggs are designed to be eaten cold or at room temperature, with no further cooking required. They are a ready-to-eat product. Ww were slow to eat one. But surprisingly they are really good. The yoke is super creamy and the white is kinda like jello. They do smell like ammonia after shelled, but it dies down if you let it sit for a minute without the shell. Little bit of salt or soy sauce is the way to go

Never had a chance to eat them. ALL 6 came broken and smelling fishy.

The eggs themselves come in-shell. However, the shell itself is pretty and makes a good presentation, and they are as easy to peel as conventional hard-boiled eggs. This is my first time eating century eggs, but the flavor was straightforward and consistent between eggs. The amber-black contents of the shell tasted pretty much like hard-boiled egg, but was a pleasantly hearty version that reminded me of the livermush my great-grandmother used to serve me on weekend mornings when I visited. It makes me feel full and satisfied, and it goes well with coffee in my opinion. For anybody the flavor resonates well with, I believe it will be a new morning staple. I will be buying this again.

I wanted to try this. I was afraid it might be "weird". I was wrong. No smell other than taste like an regular egg. The eggs color reminded me if Easter eggs. The egg sturdiness was perfect. What I get was a good price.

They all arrived perfectly intact, NO stink to any of them. I put them in the fridge to chill. Cracked my first one and it was great. That "clay" taste comes through, tiny smell of ammonia I guess I would call it. Little bit of the sulpher taste you get from any egg. Very creamy. Love these. You have to like this particular flavor, it's not for everyone ...but these are on point if you do!

I tried to give these a fair shot. I really, REALLY did. The smell when I opened the package was powerful and unpleasant, but didn't necessarily smell... unhealthy? So even though they're shelf-stable, I popped them into the fridge to get some of the odor down. Took a little nibble of the yolk and the former white to see what I was working with flavorwise, then diced one, mixed it into a stir-fry, and served it over rice. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Definitely not for me, but the flavor is interesting and complex enough that I can see why other people like it.
