NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER! A laugh-out-loud illustrated comic strip collection about the daily tug-of-war between logic and emotion, Heart and Brain: An Awkward Yeti Collection illustrates the relationship between the sensible Brain and its emotionally driven counterpart, the Heart. From Nick Seluk, creator of the popular Awkward Yeti webcomic, Heart and Brain personifies the two forces that run all of us. From paying taxes and getting up for work to dancing with kittens and starting a band, readers everywhere will relate to the ongoing struggle between impulsive Heart and cautious Brain. In dynamic, full-color panels, Seluk transforms everyday moments into sharp observations about anxiety, self-control, motivation, and the struggle to balance responsibility with pleasure. Approachable, clever, and emotionally resonant, Heart and Brain speaks to anyone who has ever tried to eat better, work harder, relax more, or simply make sense of their own thoughts. Contains more than 75 brand-new comics! Review: Quirky, Random and Utterly Charming (Indubitably)! - True story... I pre-ordered THREE copies of this book six months before it came out. And then the day it was released, I ran to the bookstore anyway to buy a copy because I didn't want to wait for my desertcart order to arrive (the books actually arrived unexpectedly that same night, but as Awkward Yeti readers know, the heart wants what the heart wants). Why should YOU buy this book? Ask yourself: Are you a fan of utter nonsense? Have you ever felt like your brain and heart were at odds? Do you wonder what that last question would look like personified in cartoon form? What are your thoughts on pizza? Oops, sorry, I got off topic on that last one. Where was I? Oh, yeah... Nick Seluk is one of my favorite cartoonists. Okay, that's a lie. He's actually my favorite cartoonist at the moment (along with Doug Savage of Savage Chickens). I grew up with The Far Side as my all-time-favorite gold standard comic (and was heartbroken when Gary Larson stopped publishing). Likewise, Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes was clever and funny and charming, but that too ended. The Awkward Yeti, and Heart and Brain, bring back memories of these cartoons and also bring a big smile to my face. The strips combine the perfect balance of goofy drawings, endearing silliness, clever dialogue, balloon-toting butterflies, business tie-wearing brains, and an abundance of exuberant hopefulness. I'm giving away a few copies as gifts, but I will definitely keep my own copy within easy reach on the bookshelf (with room for future Awkward Yeti books to come). Indeed. Review: unique & hilarious - I’m so glad that this comic strip came up on my instagram one day, while scrolling. It caught my attention, right away. It’s different, heart-warming, hilarious and good, clean humor. I plan to buy more of The Awkward Yeti books ❤️& 🧠 = 🙌

I LOVE Heart and Brain! I've never seen a comic that so perfectly describes the battle between the organs! I first discovered Awkward Yeti on Facebook and have been a follower ever since. Of course, this book is an easy read and I read them all in 30 minutes or so, but the author left me laughing several times, and I've gone back and read them again when I needed encouragement while writing my master's portfolio. This is perhaps the greatest coffee table book I've seen and well worth the price for the smiles and the potential to share it with other's who may not have discovered this brilliant comic yet! It would also be really great for a medical office waiting room. Take note, Nick, you should definitely be marketing to doctor's offices ;)

Lots of Laughs, and 'Toons You've Not Seen Before
I was introduced to Heart and Brain when friends of mine posted it to my Facebook wall. For months I read their posts, then I decided to get the collection. I am glad I did. Some of the cartoons in the collection I have read before, but many of them or even most of them are new to me. A few of these 'toons are just so-so, but a lot of them make me bust up laughing. Heart especially has some very funny lines, and poor Brain has to do all he can to hold the household together against Heart's Dionysian ways. And all through these cartoons is Heart's butterfly friend, who on rare occasion helps Brain be on his way. I have these pegged like this: Brain=ego; Heart=id; Butterfly=super-ego. But however you see them, they are funny. My favorite cartoon is one where Brain is keeping the awkward yeti up all night. He just falls asleep when Brain slaps him upside the head, waking him up; Brain then asks, why aren't you going to sleep? This one kills me every time, and it is just one among many laughs in this book.

Awesomely funny and relevant
This book was a great addition to my kindle library. It was great to have short, funny strips to read and keep my mood up when waiting in lines or otherwise

Soothing and the best
If I was told to collect a few books whenever I'm down, this book will be there. This is a bedside panacea for me.

Brain in the middle of the night: Did we write the review yet?
Many a time The Awkward Yeti comic has appeared in my Facebook and meme feeds from friends, acquaintances, and suggested posts. While not one of my daily amusements, I realized I had read it enough I should send some appreciation the author's way so he could continue to write this highly entertaining webcomic. So I bought a book with Awkward Yeti, featuring the characters "Heart and Brain" and enjoyed revisiting old FB memes and discovering new comics. The Brain waking the Awkward Yeti in the middle of the night with long-forgotten social disasters. The Heart running off in every direction trying to find its passion. The butterfly drifting through adding lively hope. And a couple times the stomach popping up with its own special demands, such as during a serious discussion about the most pressing questions of the time - world peace, does alien intelligence exists, and should we order nachos or pizza. (both please) If you like Awkward Yeti, send some Heart the author's way by buying one of his books. Or if you find truth in the Awkward Yeti's humor, send some Brain the author's way by posting a review from his book.
