OWYN Only What You Need Dark Chocolate Flavored 20g Protein Powder, 2.2 LB

My fav brand of vegan protein powder. I can't have dairy & eggs and I like that this has less sugar than other brands and doesn't taste as chalky as other brands too. I've been using this for years.

Our whole family loves this protein powder. Great taste and blends well.

I've tried many protein powders and have become a fan of Owyn Chocolate because I find it to have less imitation sweet flavor than the rest. But one thing that I don't understand is the size of the container it comes in. When the 2.2lb (988.4g) container arrives it is literally less than half full. I saved an old Olly 420g and put it into that container (washed and dried of course). Mostly because it's easier to store in my cabinet, but why such a big container? What a waste! Cut it in at least a third, if not half. I know this is an issue across most industries, this one just happens to be especially egregious.

I can't have whey protein so I have to stick with plant-based proteins, and used to buy Sun Warrior until I came across OWYN; OWYN is hands down the best protein powder I've had. I will admit I prefer the premixed a little more, but that's primarily due to convenience, but I love that the powder mixes well and doesn't have that chalky taste, and has very minimal grittiness. I just wish the dark chocolate came in the larger size as the regular chocolate is a tad sweeter, so I have to add a bit of cocoa powder to it to cut the sweetness. Yes, there are absolutely cheaper plant-based proteins out there, but the macros aren't always great and they blatantly taste cheap, but I think OWYN is well worth the extra money. While there are a bunch of reviews complaining about the large container being half full, if you've ever bought a large container of protein powder, or bothered to do a quick Google search, you'd realize that that isn't uncommon as protein powders are typically measured by weight, not volume and the powder settles. While some companies do put a note about that on the label, learn to put effort into looking at serving sizes/servings per container instead of just going by the sheer size of the container itself 🤷🏻‍♀️

Goes great with coconut milk! If you aren't trying to eliminate sugar, this is a great product. It has 4g, so it tastes a bit sweeter than other veggie powders. Great ingredients & doesn't stink like vitamins 👍👍

First, let me say I generally love Owyn protein powder and drinks. But recently I purchased 3 ea 2.2lb jugs of the chocolate 20g with Supergreens, which I've purchased before at Smith's, (1.1lb jug) but the product I just received is VERY SALTY. The 30g chocolate does not list salt as an ingredient, but the 20g lists sea salt but no sodium content on the label. Tastes like a lot more than a cup of coffee.. And I like salt in my recipes - it adds balance with depth to the food. This salt level is too much, although because it is food, I cannot return the 3 jugs ($107 for 3) so I will just have to get used to it because I need the protein (we all do). I wouldn't have bothered to announce the high salt load but I contacted liveowyn.com customer support and they responded right away. However, they want all kinds of information like pictures (my old laptop doesn't support pictures that I can attach), they want invoices, name, address, phone number, emails. I was only suggesting they reduce the salt by a little bit. And they want to make a federal case of it. I don't have more than the few minutes I'm using to write this review. Their request would have taken way more time and effort that I don't have. Any way, if you are sensitive to salt in your protein powders, this isn't for you.

I was buying the premade OWYNs, and getting tired of generating so much plastic waste. I decided to try this, in the same flavor I like. It is great, and I love that I can now add in a few ingredients of my own. HOWEVER..... this comes in a GIANT plastic can, and it was less than half full of product. I'm not complaining about the amount of product, it is cheaper than buying the premade drinks. But why put this in a giant can and then only fill it up half way?!!! The can is so big it doesn't really fit on any shelf. I am very happy with the mix, but wish they would package it more sensibly.
