Update: Bought this for two different boys and their respective birthday parties. And they both loved this toy. Who would have thought that a plain old plastic Optimus Prime would be such a hit. I bought this for my son years ago and he carried it with him everywhere. This is a great gift; highly recommend! ***Perfect for any kid who loves Transformers. Optimus Prime converts into a truck with ease. Its not as fancy or as complicated as some of the other collectibles but its perfect for younger kids who don't have the nimble dexterity to appreciate or manage larger, more sophisticated Transformers. The only caveat is OP's head sometimes doesn't snap into hiding mode, which can get annoying. But seriously, its a first world problem. Its an inexpensive gift that doesn't feel cheap.

My almost 4 year old son loves this Optimus Prime. He plays with it every day. It's easy to transform, but occasionally the head doesn't like to stay down when it's in vehicle mode. Just make sure you fold that down before you fold the cab back and it shouldn't be a problem. Overall great and it seems to be pretty sturdy. The price is a bit high, I think, $15 was more than I wanted to pay, but Walmart had sold out and I needed it for Easter.

I've seen that a lot of people have had issues with the head. If it's properly in truck from, and everything is aligned properly, then the lever is in position to hold the head down. Once you twist the robots chest forward a bit, to where it's not perfectly in its truck formation, the part that pushes the lever is no longer engaged and the head will stay open and not stay closed until that lever has been reengaged. For the people who are having issues with the head, I'd be curious see where the little contact point connects at the back when in truck form. Assuming you have it in the proper position, the latch should be in place to hold the head. It should be very apparent when actually looking at how it works.

my brother loved this it is very easy to transform but the head pops up randomly and cannot make it transform when head pops up

We have pretty much this whole set of Rescue Bots and this one is subpar. Which stinks because it's Optimus Prime! We chose this one at first rather than the other model that transforms into a tow truck, because, well, Optimus Prime does not transform into a tow truck. Ultimately though, we bought the tow truck one because this one is frustrating for my kids due to it not staying in truck form very well. His head keeps popping up and his legs pop apart. And as it turns out, my two year old is way more excited about a tow truck Prime anyway. Not sure why this one is a dud, because the rest of the Rescue Bots are all really nice toys.

I bought this for my 5 year old son who isn’t getting surgery. I purchased three different transformers and this “line” is by far the best but and most age appropriate (3-7 y as indicated on the box). One of the other ones I got isn’t way too complex (even his dad and I had trouble converting it to a car) and the other one was a little too basic and will be gifted to his 2 year old brother. But I love this “energize” line of transformers so much I bought two more! They’re super cute, very sturdy, easy to convert but not so basic that the robot and the vehicle look the same (I.e. there are a couple of steps to convert into a vehicle). I think the “weapon” addition is also a great touch for that age group (PreK to 2nd grade or so). I’m ezttemely satisfied with this product and highly recommend.

Lo compré para mi sobrino y la verdad es que él quedó encantado, tienen una medida muy buena para un pequeño, lo que igual buscaba era que fuese un juguete resistente, ya que a esa edad (5 años) los niños no se van a preocupar por no romper el juguete, y la verdad al momento de manipularlo me di cuenta que son de buena calidad. Recomendado para tu pequeño :)

My son loves rescue bot transformers. These are very good build quality considering they have moving parts and are played with pretty heavily. The playskool heroes usually only require 1-2 steps to transform which makes it easy for a preschooler to transform. We have purchased some of the child aged non playskool transformers and there is no way that my son could transform them. This playskool optimus prime is the perfect toy for a preschool aged transformer fan. The thing I really like as an adult is the Hasbro box each transformer comes in. It feels like you are getting them straight off the factory line and my son likes opening them.
